Sage and Portable Media Device

I was looking at getting one of the portable media devices such as the iRiver PMP-140 http://www.iriveramerica.com/products/pmp-140.aspx or Creative Zen
http://www.creative.com/PortableMedi...info/specs.asp. Has anyone used one of these with Sage? I would like to take some recordings with me when I travel.

I don't have those, specifically, but I have an Archos AV480 (http://www.archos.com/products/overv...00_series.html), and it is AMAZING. You do have to convert files to the proper format for the device (via included software), and if you want to transfer files recorded in Sage you need to first convert THOSE to something their software can use (convert from mpeg2 to mpeg4, I use Ulead). But it also can hook right up to the TV (or your capture card, if you have an OUT) to record directly, and even has a PVR recording functionality (though works more like a VCR than a TiVo...set time slots/channels). It does:
  • Video Playback (mp4, can set up to 30fps @ 2500kbps)
  • mp3 storage/playback (including tag info)
  • Photo viewing/storage (has CompactFlash slot right in the side of it)
  • Direct video recording via included cradle
  • Direct audio recording via internal mic
  • TV out for watching of video files via included cradle
  • Use as external drive via Windows PC
I believe it has a bigger screen than the devices you mention as well, though not sure how it compares in terms of cost. I LOVE mine. I've got the 80GB version (they also have a 20GB, like the iRiver and Creative ones), and I've got about 8GB of music, 2GB of files, and about 30GB of video at this point (which currently is 8 full length movies and 6 episodes each of Seinfeld and Friends, all at highest quality settings), have about 39GB free (some space used for software, etc.). Can't recommend it highly enough. I've used it on business and personal trips both.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering if you had to convert the Sage recordings before transferring. Again, thanks.
