ATI Rage Theater as tuner in Sage 2.1
After installing sage 2.1, when I was running thru the initial setup, I noticed a new tuner showed up that wasn't available in 2.0. In addition, to the 2 eHomeWonder cards I have, I now see "ATI Rage Video Capture". This is probably because I'm using at ATI AIW 8500DV as a TV-out card.
Does Sage 2.1 now support this card as a tuner (will it captue in DivX format)? 2.1 is running very stable now (I'm only using the 2 eHomeWonder cards). And before I risk trying to use this card and potentially wrapping everything around the axle, I was hoping someone would be able to say yes/no? Thanks -George |

I too noticed the ATI rage theater as a tuner showing up in my setup screen. I have an ATI 9600XT that i am using as a video out (but it also has the video in). I tried setting it up but just ge a black screen--leading me to believe that it doesn't work or i set it up wrong--i don't believe it has hardware encoding so that could be the problem. Any info would be great.

The various ATI AIW cards have showed up on and off in different versions of SageTV. Don't know why, as they should be placed in the mmc/ignore_encoders= list of the properties file because the do not have hardware encoders. In other words, they won't work with SageTV.
Maybe just some confusion because it does support the ATI eHome and they just haven't bothered filtering all the other ATI hardware out of the list (yet). Or, maybe someday they do plan to somehow support cards that use software encoding. Somewhere I believe I read that someone did actually manage to get one partially working, but not good enough for actual use and I believe didn't get sound. |
