Newbie recording questions...

Hi all!
I'm using SageTV 2.1 since one month now and I really like it! Now that I'm familiar with the basic functions, I want to learn more about recording capabilities.

I'm using a Hauppauge PVR-350.

Here are few questions I have:

1) I'm watching a TV program and I want to record a part of it for my girlfriend. So, I press the record button on my Hauppauge remote and I can see the red border around the TV program title. Now, I know that I'm recording. When the part I want to record is finished, I press the record button again to stop the recording. Big surprise, my TV program is gone the the Sage recording list. Where's my mistake?

2) If Sage TV is always recording to give me the possibility to go back and pause, what is the difference between simply watching TV and recording by pressing the record button? I know the when recording, it adds an entry in the Sage recording list, but as I can see, if I don't record a full TV program, I lost it. When I press record again, I lost my record, and when I change channel, the entry in SageTV recording changes!

3) It is possible to record something and get the video file to, burn it, store it of simply send it to a friend?

Thx!

Basically, "record" doesn't really record anything, not in the VCR sense at least. What it does is schedule a recording (the red box). By pressing it a second time, you cancelled the recording, and since it was no longer scheduled, Sage removed it from the list.

As I said above, "Record" schedules a manual recording, it doesn't do a VCR like record.

Not within Sage, but the files are just stored on the HDD and you can do whatever you want with them, including burning them to CD/DVD.
