Hauppauge IR emitter with USB-UIRT?

If I wanted to use the 1/8" jack in the rear of the USB-UIRT to control a 2nd cable box, then could I just plug an extra Hauppauge IR emitter into it and place the IR part infront of the cable box IR receiver?

Anyone try this with good results?

The jack on the USB-UIRT is a stereo jack. You first need to split it into seperate mono channels. Then you need to edit the .ir files for zone control. See my post here for detailed instructions.

Thanks sleonard. So, if I use a y-adapter like this, then plugin the Hauppauge IR emitter into one of the adapter jacks and edit the .ir files properly I should be good to go?
