SAge 2.1 messed up!

I just updated my system to Sage 2.1 and everything seems to be messed up now. First of all I have to restart my computer everytime after I exit Sage and want to restart it. If I try to restart Sage TV without restarting my entore PC it just gets stuck with "Sage TV Servie is initilizing"

When I restart my PC Sage starts with it. What's wrong with that?

Almost more annoying is that my Hauppauge PVR 350 remote doesnt seem to work anymore. I looked in the windows directory and Sage has overwriten my irremote.ini file. How can I get my remote back to work? I am so confused and sad that I upgraded :-(

Can any of you guys help me?

you need to setup everything then close sageTV fromt he task bar and disable the service
then restart it

there is a problem where SageTV is not saving the settings if you reboot without closing sageTV first
and the remote.ini
do you have a copy of the old one

if so just replace it or you will need to make the changes to it again

did you check the box for the pvr remote or not when installing 2.1?

what I did in the past was
copy the ini

install the new version
close it all the way
copy the old ini over the new one and restart sageTV

the service can be shutdown using the sagetvservicecontrol.exe

and the remote.ini are sometimes more complex the what was it, but if you are simply trying to get the green button to open and close sageTV
then it is

punt! and restore....

May I suggest:
Save yourself some trouble and reinstall 2.0 (.20 or .19).
I assume uninstall will get rid of the service etc. If you're (still) having capture/tune problems, then reinstall the drivers.

I assume you copied wiz.bin and sage.properties before you upgraded. If you didn't then you'll have to continue down the 2.1 road. (tsk tsk)....

I image (DriveImage or Ghost, True Image, etc.) my system partition before doing any upgrades of any kind. Been burned too many times. Yes it takes 10 minutes, but if something doesn't work right, it takes only 10 minutes to put it back exactly like it was before. In the case of Sage upgrades, I also make a copy of wiz and properties. Also, whenever I make any changes to the remote.ini file, I make a copy of that too. And, yes it appears that Sage still overwrites the remote.ini file, but you have to tell it to provide support, otherwise the remote doesn't work (don't know why it overwrote it when you didn't elect that option during install).

Amen! Ghost is HIGHLY recomended for any system - I use it all the time for general backups, and just before I switched to Sage 2.1! (I still have that image in case I have any trouble - been on Sage 2.1 for about 2 weeks)

Ghost Rules!
