New Hauppauge Remote Range
I am currently using the silver Hauppauge remote control and it works okay but it is very unforgiving if the remote is not pointed directly at the reciever "eye". Even a few degrees off and it either does not work at all or it may send an incorrect command to sage. I was wondering if the new Hauppauge remote would be an improvement.

I have the same problem. I've wanted to get a Pronto remote to replace the 'silver', but I'm afraid that the eye is going to still be a drawback to the overall usability of the system. Whenever people try and use the system I have to remind them to point the remote at the TV; a lot of people are used to pointing the thing off into space and still having it work. Seems like this 'eye' has no peripheral vision
Would using a USBIRT/w Girder help this? The the USBIRT better for IR range? |

I use a ProntoNG with my Sage setup and I don't have a problem. I even have the "eye" sitting behing some smoked glass beside the LCD. The transmitters on Prontos are VERY strong.
