how did you get ehome wonder to work with xp pro?
I have read several posts here from people who have an ehome wonder working with xp pro (NOT MCE). I bought one, but it will not install for me. When I tried the installer from ATI's web site, it tells me that the OS is not supported and quits. When I used the CD that came with the card, it installed, but the device will not start in the device manager. (The device with the problem is "ATI eHomeWonder, WDM Video Codec".) This was with SP2, so I wiped the drive and reinstalled xp, this time only updating to SP1 (I saw that Ghost was using it, so I thought I'd try just in case.) Still no go.
Am I missing something? I have the non-FM version of the card if that matters. After I had the problem I looked back at Newegg, and it does say MCE 2004 is required, but I see so many people with XP Pro and XP Home who say it works... Thanks for your help. |

I would try the card in different PCI slots.

Go here:
http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/w...omewonder.html and download the installer. Run it and let it extract the files to C:\ATI\SUpport...whatever then after it extracts and gets to the WDM setup just cancel the install. The driver files should still be in that folder. Just point your driver install to that folder. Hopefully this helps. |

It might be time to test Newegg's customer service policies. |

If you have another machine see if it installs on that one. May be some weird PCI issue.

I am still setting up my Sage box, so I'm a noob, but I have two of the ATI eHome Wonder cards installed and running under XP Pro, and didn't have any real problems. I installed the driver CD, rebooting a couple of times during installation (I always do what I'm told). When the ATI software had finished doing its thing, the PC still said "unknown" in the device manager.
After some momentary frustration, I finally double clicked on each card (they were in the "other devices" section), clicked on "reinstall driver" for each card, and they worked! They now appear under "sound, video, and game controllers" in the device manager. I did install them when I was first loading drivers, and before installing anything from windows update, so that may have had something to do with it -- I'm not sure. Also, they are the ones with the FM tuner, so that may make a difference, but I doubt it. I hope that helps!

I have a non-fm ehome wonder and had no problems installing in XP. I'm using the drivers v200 that came with the card and have also installed the 233 drivers. The 233 drivers caused my PVR software to stop working properly but the card itself still worked. I have to believe you either have a bum card or a PCI problem. Oh, I have not installed SP2.

This is very frustrating because it seems as though everyone is having a different experience.
I originally bought a single eHome Wonder and it worked flawlessly. However, ever since I added a second eHome Wonder (both non-FM) the video playback freezes early on. The rest of the recording remains intact, it just freezes up at certain points and locks up Sage for a while. ATI states that their v233 drivers were to enable multi tuner support in MCE2k5. When I tried them I experienced loss of audio, picture freeze, etc... When I replaced them with the 200 driver I continued to experience trouble with audio until I removed the card and let it auto-detect it. It put the 233 drivers back on and I put them back to the 200. It's been working well since (knock on wood).

How did you get them to go back to the 200 drivers? I couldn't seem to get it to install those because it kept recognizing them as older than the currently installed ones.

If your running XP. Go to update driver. Select to choose the location (not automatic). Select don't search. It should list all versions installed and you choose which one.

I saw on another forum that a user put the old drivers on one eHome Wonder and the new drivers on the second eHome Wonder. I did this and tested with a couple of simultaneous recordings. They both looked great and played back perfectly. Thanks for the suggestions.
