SageTV recorded FM radio!

Hi all,

I have the PVR-350 card that has the built-in FM radio tuner installed in a WinXP box. To record radio programs I use BlazeAudio PowerRecord. It was set up to record a couple of NPR programs on Saturday. I wrote a batch file that gets called from VisualCron to kill the radio process after the programs are recorded (I wish the app would have something that told it to exit after recording, but that's for another time...)

Anyway, Monday night I had SageTV set up to record a TV program. Last night I opened up the recorded program with Sage. I had no video and the audio was a recording of the NPR radio station! Doh!

Also, when I went to LiveTV there was no video and the audio was live NPR radio. To get things working again I had to exit Sage and restart it.

Anyone have any idea what might've happened to me? Seems like the radio program temporarily altered what SageTV was seeing and hearing and Sage didn't go back to its normal setting when the radio SW was killed. But I'm not sure.

Very weird. I'll have to do some tests on this to see if it's reproducable, and to see if it happens if I cleanly exit the radio package instead of killing the process via a script. But in the meantime if anyone has any guesses about what went on, I'd love to hear them.

Thanks!

-Gary

Did you "kill" or "exit" the radio program. It sounds like the 350's hardware was left with the radio in use & you can't use the FM & TV tuners at the same time.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the reply. They weren't trying to use the card at the exact same time. Radio was recorded on Saturday between 11am - 1pm. Tv wasn't recorded until late Monday night. Now, during this whole time SageTV was open (asleep in the system tray).

I take it that is a bad thing? I should exit SageTV before opening the Radio app, then kill the radio app before re-opening SageTV? Probably not a problem if there's a command line switch for Sage that I can put in my script to start SageTV and put it right into sleep mode after I've done my radio recording and nuked the radio app.

Thanks!

-Gary

Yeah, I know they weren't using the card at the same time, but maybe killing the process prevented it from releasing the FM tuner on the 350 -- I now notice you commented on that too. If doing a normal exit of the radio program doesn't release it, then I guess a SageTV restart might be in order... but either way, you still have to make sure no TV show is scheduled to record at the same time. (I just find the FM tuner on my USB2 to be useless at the moment since they can't be used at the same time.)

Exclamation

I also have this problem with the 2.1 release. I start my radio program (Hauppauge radio software), then, close it with the 'X' or the 'OFF' button, and the start SageTV. Now I get no image and my radio sound! Then I close SageTV, open my Hauppauge TV program (WinTV), TV is back!, close it, and reopen SageTV. Now everything is fine. It seems SageTV don't initialise the card correctly. I've submitted this problem to support.
