Unable to boot to anything but 1776x1000

ati dongle via DVI port on a 9600

I can run all sorts of resolutions - but if I try to use anything but 1776x1000 - when I reboot, the resolution doesnt stick.

Is there a trick that I'm missing? I would like to be able to run 856x480 to get a widescreen desktop and not have the flicker that 1080i timings have. I get everything running perfectly at 856 and then I rebooted and its back to 1776. I am not running powerstrip or any other 3rd party video helpers.

thanks!

I could be wrong, but 1776x1000 requires 1080i timing to run. You will most likely need to use 480p timing to get 856x480 to run (unless you want it as 480i). You might be better served by checking www.avsforum.com for this (though it could take weeks to search that tome!)

well, i can tell you that I use Catalyst 4.11 and when I choose 856 or 848 x 480, it will stick. I can a little too much overscan, so I have a small monitor plugged in to do any kind of text reading.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

thanks guys. My TV supports both 480p (and i) and 1080i but it just seems to want to boot to the 1080i timing only. Oh well.
