some other interface issues:

anyway to direct play a show off of the guide instead of having to go to the detailed info popup first?

can you edit the order of the choices - ie, when you pick a show, the first option is "CLOSE" rather than "WATCH" - it makes picking and watching a show rather a slow process. Same with Watching Recorded shows.

some weird issues with the video rendering being randomly disabled requiring shutdown and reload

can you make the OSD transparent?

lastly, the targeted sendmessage jumps don't work with this STV. I have keys map to go to RECORDED SHOWS via sendmessage - it works with all other STV but with this one, it goes to the main menu. SEARCH sendmessage also doesn't work

the mini-guide doesn't work for changing channels

thanks again for great theme

can anyone duplicate this:

with the preview video window enabled, when I choose a show to watch and then press "CHANGE TO CHANNEL NOW" it sometimes lock up. It's almost random - works about 5-6 times, crash the 7th time. it also occurs with SageMC. if I surf channels pushing channel up/down without going through the detail info/change channel now pop-up, it won't ever lock up.

resolved if I disable the preview window.

anyway you can bind the "play" button to automatically start playing a show from the guide isntead of bringing up the popup dialogue?

Thumbs up Fantastic!

Meekell,

The new version of your STV is fantastic! The disabling of the conflict popup is working like a charm and everything else is smooth. It's elegant and easy to use. The menu driven interface for selecting shows is exactly as it should be. Non-expert users to see the range of choices available. To me, that's the major focus of the Teehan-Lax UI and UI in general.

I agree with some of the previous posts re: SendMessage and the like, but in general-awesome!!

Jon

request: any chance you can make it so that in the show listings, it shows episode names instead of show names over and over?

ie
SURVIVOR
->SURVIVOR
->SURVIVOR
->SURVIVOR

you only get show details once you click on the item.
Yes. I've been meaning to do this but I forget. Wait...okay I wrote it down. It'll be in the next release.

2nd request: i don't use the DVD/PICTURES/MUSIC LIBRARIES (I use Meedio) any chance you can have an option to disable unused top menu options?
I do have plans for a more customizable menu system for the home page but you probably won't see it until a beta version. There's so much other stuff to do.

I'll add this functionality to the 'play' button in the next version.

Any more info on this?

It is. If you are using VMR it has a semi-transparent on top of the overlay matte. This makes it look like it isn't transparent. I'll look into this.

I'll have to add the commands. My concern has been putting together an interface that can work with very few buttons. However, I do want accomadate those who would like to use button shortcuts as well. I don't use these shortcuts so I haven't bothered with it yet. I'll work on this.

It should if you're in the right timeslot. I do plan on taking you to the selected channel if it isn't the right timeslot.

On the todo list is to actually allow conflict resolution from the menu as well.

Yes! This is and remains the goal of this project. SageTV is very powerful but the current interface doesn't do it justice. I'm a techie and my girlfriend is not. She used to get intimidated by picking up the remote. I want to eliminate the fear-factor while still allowing me to have full control of SageTV.

meekell_alpha_0_3_1 Release Notes:

Everything you fixed seems to have been fixed. Some other stuff that needs fine tuning:

1) the OSD is a bit off. When you change the channel, it keeps the OSD from the prior channel. it should change when you change the channel. it makes surfing channels with the miniguide REALLY confusing.

2) There is no "REC" icon on the OSD - don't know if a show is currently set for "RECORD" - pushing "REC" button gets you no feedback

3) on the guide, there should be a different icon for currently watching channel and channel set for "RECORD" . Right now, if you watch a channel, it labeled as REC and if you press RECORD to record the show, it still only says "REC"

4) "EXIT Fullscreen" doesn't do anything until you exit sage, then next time you boot up, it's in windowed mode.

5) I sometimes lose the video renderer - i can't figure it out. only happens with this theme. Randomly can't watch anything. No error messages. corrects itself if i exit sage and reload.

6) the miniguide surfing is weird. if you push up to change the channel enough, eventually the timeslot changes as well. . ie, i'm on channel 140 at 10pm, if i channel up 5 times, I'll be at channel 145 at 3 am. the time changes with the channel

I thought I fixed this. I guess not...

This used to work. You're right though, it doesn't anymore.

What do you mean by "lose the video renderer." It stops playing? Goes black?

I know. The way I am displaying the data has a very low overhead. I didn't want to build a huge table of data. There's enough for the CPU to do while the video is playing. The table keeps the data aligned in the guide. I'll have to figure out a way to keep the mini-guide from doing what it's doing.

I'm getting that video render problem as well, but thought it was the machine, not the STV file. Goes to a black screen with no video, but sound still rolls on.

Does it stay this way? When does this occur?

Also black screen/sound w/.31

I am also having the black screen w/sound. I believe the video sometimes come back when you change channels watching live video or go to a recorded video.

I tried switching back to the .30 STV but the problem continued. It only went away after I restarted and used either the original STV or Cayars.

Can you both post your video settings i.e. VMR/Overlay, Decoder, 3D Accel., etc?

I'm using the Nvidia decoders (latest version), and my settings are as follows: VMR9, Nvid Post Processor, C, B&W, No Dscaler, Audio render default, mpeg audio decoder, 0, 3d on, Color keying off. This is with the 30 version, not the newer 31, but I'm guessin that it'd be the same with that since others are having similar problems.

I forgot to add that if I change channel, I can usually get it working again, tho sometimes the new channel has video, but the old doesn't.

One thing I've noticed so far in my and the other guys setup that are the same, is the Nvidia codec. I'm going to try to change to the Intervideo one I was using, and see how that works.
