The last glitch that's annoying is a flickering of the CC. Any ideas ? anybody with the same issue ? ( no Problem with Cayars or Original )
If I can get cc enabled I'll look into this...Well even if I can't I'll look into it.

Manol, let Meekell know your setup so he can try and duplicate the problem/issue better. For example, what screen resolution are you set up on? Are you running VMR9 or Overlay? What decoders. Any registry mods done for the video card (hardware acceleration)? What deinterlace method, etc...

This type of information is a god-send when trying to duplicate problems.

Sure here it is :
SageTv Config
VRM9
NVidia Video Decoder
DScaler disabled , and DVXA to default
3d disabled
Overlay Color Keying Disabled ( required for CC )
Athlon 2400+, 512MB DDR, GeForce4 MX4000 64MB, 380GB HDD

Let me know If I forgot anything of value for you.

PS: I saw a similar post reporting the same problem on the SageMC STV.

Thanks !

Curious, have you tried turning 3D on and seeing if this helps? Any reason you have that disabled?

And don't forget: if 3D is disabled, you aren't really using VMR9 either.

Good point Andy, Otherwise I think he'd be able to have Overlay Color Keying turned on in VMR9 (but not 100% sure).

Meekell,
I think this STV is one of the best. I really like the look and feel. I like the idea that this stv looks different then all the rest. I think you've done a great job....

(And now the request)

I have several DVD's I've ripped as well as a listing of my DVD collection (covers and descriptions converted from DVD Profiler and DVDPro2My). Is there a way to display the images/folders in the "Archived" section.

Thanks for a great STV
Mike

The archived section is for the archived tv recordings. I've actually been thinking about removing this section completely and merging the functionality into the recordings menu.

The Imports menu should already have this functionality. If it isn't working correctly make sure to let me know the specifics so I can fix this.

Okay, I've played around with trying to enable CC on my pvr-250s and haven't got it working yet. I've added the dword registry entries in two places as mentioned in the instructions. I've turned off color keying. I've set the properties entry to true. With all of this, I can't turn it on from the options menu. Can you view the cc while watching live tv? What am I missing?

Do you need to import an stv to get commercial skipping going, or does it work out of the box?

Intermittent Client hangs when changing channels/No Weather

Meekell:

Thank you so much for continuing to work on this gorgeous STV. It's extremely elegant and really works well on a large display. It also has a much more logical navigation than the other customizations or the original/default.

The only drawback is that I keep having the system hang intermittently when I try to change channels while watching LiveTV. I am running Sage 2.2.4 as a service with Java 1.5. The Sage Service appears to keep on going recording fine, but I have to kill the SageTV.exe process and restart to get going again.

In another area, when I try to browse Weather on the home screen, it just says loading forever. I can load the WRS fine using Cayars 17 & by running the java processes directly. Any idea why it doesn't load in your STV?

Thanks,

Jonathan Wilner

Works right out of the box. I used Cayars v15 code.

That's no good! Is there any pattern to that behavior?

I haven't incorporated the WRS. I'm using the weather.exe from mlbdude2. It sounds like you are using the java solution instead. What kind of property settings do you have?

By the way, smoothing out the rough edges of weather section is on the todo list. I threw that together to show the potential of the flyout menu system.

Narrowing down channel change error/video menu

Meekell,

I previously had set the video menu to "always" & window mode. This would result in the video always going to the upper right corner when I went to the guide. I changed a setting (can't remember exactly what right now, believe it was to "when active") that results in video not showing when I go to the guide.

Since I made that change, I haven't had any errors changing channels. I also switched from service to normal mode, but I don't believe that's the cure. I've tried running not in service mode before but to no avail.

Re: weather, yes, I have WRS installed but I have also installed the weather.exe. It used to work before and doesn't anymore.

here is a walk through for setting up weather for newbies.

1) you need the mlbdude STV
get it here: http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...hlight=mlbdude
2) extract it to your STVs folder, so you now have
C:\Program Files\Frey Technologies\SageTV\STVs\MlbDude\
3) import the STV from the advanced setup menu - import STV
4) now you need to copy getweather.bat and getweather.exe files to the mlbdude directory.
you can get the files here
http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...=batch+weather
ie. those 2 files should be here
C:\Program Files\Frey Technologies\SageTV\STVs\MlbDude\getweather.bat
C:\Program Files\Frey Technologies\SageTV\STVs\MlbDude\getweather.exe
you can edit the .bat file

now you need to quit sage and add these to your sage.properites file.
please note that if you have the sage service running, there will be 2 properties files - client and server. you can do both.

replace the existing weather stuff with this stuff below.

mlbdude/weather_exe=\\STVs\\MlbDude\\getweather.bat
mlbdude/weather_exe_java=false
mlbdude/weather_file=\\STVs\\MlbDude\\Weather.txt
mlbdude/weather_provider=www.weatherroom.com
mlbdude/weather_url=http\://www.weatherroom.com/xml/ext/
mlbdude/weather_zip=NZXX0003

the last line is your area. you can leave this one as it is if you want to test it out and or you live in Auckland, New Zealand
you can find out your weather_zip by going to www.weather.com, entering your city and clicking go. choose your city from the list of results and the your browser's address bar will show you your local code
eg. for http://www.weather.com/weather/local...om=search_city
you would enter mlbdude/weather_zip=USWV0443

5) next you need to copy the weather icons folder (in the mlbdude folder):
C:\Program Files\Frey Technologies\SageTV\STVs\MlbDude\Default\weather
and put it in the teehan-lax folder
C:\Program Files\Frey Technologies\SageTV\STVs\teehan-lax\weather

troubleshooting:
make sure your computer has a direct internet connection, if you go through a proxy for web access, it kinda doesn't work

Thanks, iain. This getWeather.exe is different than the one I've been using. I'm going to give it a try.

There shouldn't be any need to import the mlbdude stv. I'm not sure what the effects of doing this is. Oh and you should probably want to change the weather provider to weather.com (won't have any effect on functionality - just giving credit to the wrong service).

The next release is going to make this info irrelevant, as the files will be included in the correct directories and the setup will be done from inside sage.

meekell_beta_0_1 Release Notes:

* Updated: Main Menu item list. (Preparation for custom xml menu)
* Fixed: Long show information wasn't completely viewable. The popup description from the main menu and the Detailed Show Description in the guide are now scrollable.
* Added: "Weather Setup" to the General Settings. On SageTV startup, if there is no "mlbdude/weather_zip" entry in the properties file, SageTV will ask iif you want to setup the weather. Selecting yes will take you through the setup up process, no will ignore the weather functionality. You can always access the setup from the Generel Settings Menu. All the necessary files are included in the weather directory.
* Updated: Icon set (thanks iain). You can simply relace the icons in the directory if you would like to use others.
* Added: Video preview in the Recordings, Imports, Archived Menus. Video preview can now be disabled from the Settings->Multimedia->"Menu Video Preview Window" setting.
* Fixed: Conflict Resolution wasn't resolvable if conflict popups were disabled. If there are any conflicts, a conflict menu item will appear in the Main Menu. From there conflicts can be resolved.
* Added: Full screen pictures are browseable. FFWD goes to next image, RWND goes to previous, STOP closes full screen viewer.
* Added: Refresh Library to Options menu of Music Jukebox.
Beta!!! If you're having problems with the weather settings, shut down SageTV, open the properties file and remove all of the "mlbdude/weather..." entries. When you restart follow the on screen instructions.

Hey Meekell!

I just used your STV and really like the way it looks...nice job! Very user friendly.

Because I'm new and haven’t had a chance to tweak all my settings the way I want yet & couldn't get to any kind of advanced settings within your STV (that I found anyway), I decided to go back to the standard one for a while and continue tweaking.

What I found was that there was no way to switch back to the other STV within yours so I went and manually changed the settings in the properties files like you and abbott_m recommended.

I closed down the service and client before making these changes. I then saved the changes to the files and re-started Sage.

For some reason your STV loaded again. At that point I closed out of the service and client again and manually deleted all the meekell entries in the client properties file and put in the standard STV. And, I did the same to the backup file thinking that that was what was causing my manual changes to be overwritten.

Started Sage again and the same thing happened, your STV loaded. It has some serious persistence...a trait I admire

So at this point I decided to re-do what I did above and remove your STV files from the STV directory completely.

That did the trick...now I'm back to the original STV.

I thought you might want to know it did that. I'll try it out again after I have all my settings the way I want them...

Again, it looks really good!

All the settings you are accustomed to are available by pushing the "Options" command while at the Main Menu. To change stvs you must edit the line wizard/widget_db_file=C\:\\Program Files\\Frey Technologies\\SageTV\\STVs\\meekell_beta_0_1.stv towizard/widget_db_file=C\:\\Program Files\\Frey Technologies\\SageTV\\STVs\\OriginalV2\\OriginalV2.stv. In order for your changes to the properties file to hold you need to edit and save while SageTV is NOT running. Otherwise it rewrites the settings it has in memory back to the properties file periodically.
