new icons

for anyone who hates the cartoon icons, i have found some replacements that more closely match the super stylish awesome meekell stv.

i have attached a screen shot and a zip file. just unzip to the teehan-lax directory.

the pngs are only 128x128 rather than 256x256 but i can't really tell the difference.

I was out of town for the weekend so I didn't have a chance to look into the performance probs. I have a good idea of what's causing the high cpu usage...

meekell_alpha_0_5_2 Release Notes:

* Fixed: menu topbar was using a lot of cpu resources.
* Fixed: animation panels were using a lot of cpu resources.
* Added: Volume displays in the upper right when changed in menus
* Added: Date and time toggle every 5 secs in the topbar of menus
* Added: Sort Music by Genre. Not completely polished off yet but it works. TODO: Replace "(##)" with actual genre.

Get the 5.2 update here .
I think this update should reduce the cpu usage quite a bit. Let me know. Some of the scrolling animations may appear choppy as of this release. I will polish this off later. I also added a new properties setting that I forgot to document. You can try meekell/animation_scroll = false if you don't want any scrolling text or if it's eating up too much cpu time. If you can afford any extra cpu time for this it's worth it in my opinion.

YAY! What a difference a revision makes. My client now sits around 2%, which is PERFECT! Excellent job on tracking that down. What did it end up being?

Certain areas of the menus were being repainted every 500-750ms regardless if they needed to or not. Now, they are only being repainted if absolutely necessary or not at all if the property entry is set to false.

iain, I like the feel of those icons. Is there any chance you can find a general playlist icon as well as a import library icon that matches?

I would like to build a web server for the music player to control the sounds from a palm/ipaq when my projector is off. Is your STV just using the standard sage media player or a custom app?

For the hauppauge remote users out there, can you force the vol +/- buttons in the livetv screen to change the volume rather than navigate the epg?

I can add this functionality. I don't use the small hauppage remote so I didn't think about this. Let me make sure I'm clear about this - the left/right arrows are also the volume controls, right? Is this the only menu that doesn't work properly with that remote configuration?

Are those icons part of a set? I could swear I've seen them before.

Yeah, apart from some customizations I did, (eg. the import icon etc) they were from a free stock icon set from a design company that escapes my memory but did design for PC and Mac.

Left/Right = Vol +/-
Up/Down = Chan Up/Chan Down
(this is the only place i've noticed)

Close caption flickering

First congrats for this latest release , the performance improvement now allows me to run this awesome STV on my poor Athlon

The last glitch that's annoying is a flickering of the CC. Any ideas ? anybody with the same issue ? ( no Problem with Cayars or Original )

Thanks again for your work, it's a tremendous contribution to the comunity.
