My video isn't videoing
My video isn't videoing anymore.
I have a raw cable feed going to a Hauppauge 250. I can use the WinTV program to watch the video (Both on a monitor and the attached TV). Earlier today I could also watch the video on SageTV's live TV, but not anymore. WinTV still works fine. When I set up the channels originally, I had SageTV scan and locate the channels, but for some reason they weren't enabled, and I couldn't see the video. I clicked the enable all channels button, and I was then able to see video on all the non-encrypted channels. I'm not sure what to look for. Can some Sage sage point me in the right direction? Listen, pal, you assumed bundled hardware and software would work right out of the box? What is your major malfunction?

no idea what you mean my name is not PAL but I will try to help ok uninstall SageTV delete the whole Frey Tech folder check the device manager to make sure the TV card is functioning no yellow ! or anything then goto shspvr.com/forum and in the pvr 250 section get the newest drivers run the driver update in the device manager and update the drivers ok now reboot and then install SageTV make sure to have the newest version of java installed before installing it you should check the java website then configure SageTV then close SageTV from the task bar and disable the sevice if running then restart SageTV this will save all of your settings for some reason it is not keeping settings after a reboot you need to manually close it before the reboot your tuners were/are probably being ignored by SageTV for one reason or another you can check the properties files, if you are wondering there is a line with ignored encoders |

Thanks for your help ...
I tried uninstalling the software, and deleting the all of the frey files and directories. I checked the device manager, and the card is functioning properly. Also, WinTV works just fine. I installed the lastest PVR drivers and the latest apps. I rebooted and reinstalled Sage TV, and it still does not display the live video. I am unsure where to get the latest java environment. Is this available through Sun? I'll search around the forum ... Also, how would I know whether the tuners were being ignored in the properties file? Is this the line with ignored encoders you mentioned? (I can hear audio if that helps) (With regard to my first post, the initial channel scan for a raw cable feed -- i.e., not through a cable box -- did not enable all of my channels. Only after I specifically enabled the channels was I able to view the live TV.) Thanks for the info on saving the configuration. Regards, Marty |

There is no "Scan" of channels in sage.
I think what you are referring to is the channel llistings. This is where you TELL sage which channels you KNOW you get. Only if a channel is "enabled" will it show up on the channel guide. I'm thinking your MPEG2 decoder is messed up some how. Do you have one installed? I would think so since you can use your card with it's own software. I am a big fan of the nVidia MPEG-2 decoder. You can pick this up and set Sage to use it and you should be all set. -Beef (it's what's for dinner) |

yeah it sounds like you have not installed a mpeg2 decoder
ftp://asftp.aopen.com.tw/pub/driver/...oder_40029.zip install this and see if you can get picture you should probably select it it is nvidia video decoder and choose your video render to be overlay just start with that and you can adjust later are you getting an error at all? and what source are you using for TV?cable, satellite, digital cable and how is it connected to the TV? compsoite, svideo with composite audio, or coax? |

Beef, thanks for the info on Java, I'll try that next.
The "scan" my posting refers to is in the "Channel Setup" menu (version 2.1). There are four possible selections "Done with Channel Setup", "Enable All Channels", "Disable All Channels", and the one my posting refers to: "Scan For Available Channels". It's possible that folks who have not configured Sage for a raw cable feed (i.e., not though a cable box) do not see these selections. Beef, Walker, I'll check on the mpeg decoder. Though, it looks like Sage is trying to decode things properly. I think it may be a channel tuning issue. Sage is unable to tune to the proper cable channel (again this is a raw feed). I've seen a few threads on the forum where folks had this problem. (Walker, the feed is cable tv over coax to the PVR-250 bypassing the cable box) Regards, Marty Last edited by Redrum; 11-12-2004 at 04:26 PM. |

I just installed the PVR-250 driver version: 040910Retail1.18.021.22254.zip, available on the Sage Support page. It works! The thing that really screwed me up was that I went to the Hauppauge web site to download their latest driver when I was first having problems; so, I thought I was OK. NOT! Anyway, the Sage Support page version works for me.
Thanks for your help, Beef and Walker. Marty Last edited by Redrum; 11-12-2004 at 04:54 PM. |

"Scan for Available Channels" was a feature added in SageTV v2.1. See page 123 of the manual for details.
