Sage 2.1, SageMVP & Xcard

Been using Sage 2.1 & the SageMVP client for a few weeks now & it's working great. Two issues I've run up against.
1. I have an Xcard installed in the server & used it when we lived in a previous house earlier this year. Since the move I installed a new client, the SageMVP & I assume I'll need a Sage client to be able to use both clients (Xcard & SageMVP). But I also assumed that I could use one or the other just to verify that all is working fine. But so far I'm unable to get the Xcard client working again. Any suggestions?

2nd issue.... trying to use the other multimedia features in the 2.1 client (from the SageMVP), ie; view pictures & listen to mp3s. I do a search & it never comes up with any files. The files are located on the same drive as the Sage application, not mapped, and not hidden, user has access to them. I am running Sage in Service mode which seems to work fine otherwise. How do I get Sage to find the files?

For the Xcard, just select it as the decoder in Detailed Setup -> Video, then leave the other video & audio settings set to default.

Hey SHS, the Xcard is still in the original PC that has been running Sage all along. We used to have it in the living room but now it's in an office. I recently hooked up a 20" in the office & would like to get the Xcard setup to display video on it in addition to the SageMVP in the living room. I assume this is two client, right?

Hmmm, so I don't own a client at this point. I bought Sage's PVR250 bundle. I've looked for a SageTVClient.exe file & don't see anything.
When I installed SageMVP, I did option #2 on Matt's documentation. Sounds like I need to purchase a client from Sage & install the SageMVP using option #1.

SageMVP docs

Opus, I have Sage setup like you said but still have nothing out of the Xcard.

Yes, you would need a client to be able to run another instance to cover both the Xcard & MVP. BTW: the client can be configured to run multiple instances on one PC, but the server is intended to be run only once.

You've got _everything_ else on both the Video & Audio tabs of Detailed Setup set to Default, except for "MPEG2 Video Decoder Filter"? How about the Xcard drivers -- the latest from last Dec? The Xcard software shows its output on the TV? If that's all set, then I'm not too sure, as I don't remember having a problem like this.

You've got this same SageTV installation currently set to work on the MVP? I have no idea whether that could interfere with using the Xcard in some way.

I installed the latest Xcard drivers from Dec. 2003 & did some more testing. If I run one of the Sage mpg files from the Sigma player or Window Media Player, the Xcard displays to the TV fine.
Sage is setup exactly like Opus discribed, everything_ else on both the Video & Audio tabs of Detailed Setup set to Default, except for "MPEG2 Video Decoder Filter" is set to the Sigma Xcard. But still no video from Sage.
I'm wondering if it has something to do with the SageMVP install. This would be the first time I've tried to use the Xcard since the MVP install. I'm not sure if it's a licensing issue or a software install problem. I made sure the MVP is off.
I guess it's a moot point & I need the client anyway.

One way to find out if the MVP settings are interfering... rename/move your current properties files & their auto-backups. (Might want to make a copy of the wiz.bin file too.) Essentially start over & reconfigure a new properties file that doesn't have the MVP stuff. I'm guessing that the way it configures the video to go to the MVP prevents it from playing on the Xcard. Note the word: _guessing_.

BTW: When you use the MVP, does the video play on both the PC and the MVP, or just the MVP?

Bingo. Thats it, Opus. I had saved the old SageTV directory prior to installing the MVP. So I copied it back in there & now the Xcard displays video & audio from Sage. But of course the MVP doesn't work. So I narrowed it down to the SageClient.properties file (real stretch, huh). I have two of them, one makes the MVP work, the other makes the Xcard work. I looked at the contents of the two, one is 236 lines long, the other is 404 lines. Not sure what it is, HTML, Java, whatever. So should I merge the two? Or somehow setup two SageTV folders, one with the MVP properties, the other with the Xcard properties?

If you get SageTVClient to go along with SageTV, you can dedicate one install dir for the MVP & one for the Xcard. My guess above was based on the MVP's use of the media player plugin; _if_ that is the case, then you can't combine the 2 in the same dir with the same properties file.
