Audio Lag

In Client 2.1, I have a slight (annoying) audio lag -- the audio isn't synchronized with the video, but lags behind it just a bit. I tried to fix this by setting a negative audio delay in the audio settings, but when I do this, Sage will play a file for only a couple of seconds, then freeze. I can FF or REW at that point, it'll play a couple more seconds, and freeze again.

Any ideas for another way to sync my audio and video?

Okay, after some more searching, I've discovered Reclock, but it's not helping. In fact, using Reclock makes the video more choppy and doesn't solve the audio delay problem. Any ideas?

This is for a Client box displaying on a 1024x768 27" CRT monitor. PC specs are Shuttle MN31N, Athlon XP2200, 512mb RAM, onboard GeForce4 MX 440 video, audio out via spdif to a receiver. I'd be happy to consider other/improved hardware components if it'll solve my problem. Currently I'm using the nvidia decoders for both video and audio (after the failed experiment with reclock).
