Mapped network drives and 2.1 as a service
Hello,
I just upgraded to 2.1 and all my recording that I have done in 2.0 are to a mapped network drive. I noticed if you run sagetv as a service, you can not use mapped network drives. So I changed that to the UNC which fixed that issue. However, all the shows I recorded before upgrading show in the properties the mapped drive that they are located in. Is there a way to change this to the UNC location? Thank you. |

I read in a guide or something the other day (I do not run client/server setup) that there was something you edit, and change to true value or something lol to make it view your old stuffs... I see if I can find out where that was. may of been the faq on sage.tv actually.

doox00 is talking about the make_all_mediafiles_local property, but that shouldn't come into play here, since you have not changed the PC's network name.
What is happening is that SageTV tries to find the files in their current location before it decides they aren't there. I believe this is so that it doesn't immediately remove the recordings from the list just because a network drive happens to be temporarily offline. To solve this, SageTV has to have access to their old locations so it can 'see' that they are no longer in the old location & are in the new video dir instead. Since you will need to map a drive letter, I suggest that you temporarily set it to run w/o the service. Leave SageTV set to use the UNC paths. Then, create a mapped drive letter that does NOT point to where the recordings are located. Run SageTV (no service, as mentioned) -- it will then be able to see the recordings in the UNC path & also see that they are no longer available on that mapped drive letter. It should then update its records for where the files are located (see Recording Detail to see the recording's path). Once that is done, you can return to using the service & get rid of the mapped drive letter. - Andy
