Invalid username and password

I setup my sageTVservice and entered my username and password. It took it and started. I could not, however, add my network mapped drives so I stopped the service and restarted sageTV. This allowed me to access my mapped drives.

I then tried to restart the service and enter in my username and password again, but now I just get the invalid username and password message.

I thought, that if I used an account name that had a password I could access mapped network drives. This did not work for me. What gives?

Also, why wont it take my username and password? It works when I log onot windows, just sage does not like it.

Ideas?

thanks,

Services (all services, not just the Sage service) can't access Mapped drives. Drive mapping is part of the explorer (Windows UI) process. You need to use UNC paths for your network shares if you use the service.

eg
\\computername\sharename

I don't use UNC paths because that keeps my client from sleeping. Guess I wont use the service. I already have SageTV start correctly after reboot, so I won't loose too much.

thanks,

That's not *entirely* accurate. The real problem here is that the drives are mapped under one user context, and the service is being run in a completely seperate context (even if the username is the same.) Too bad though, because it won't matter in this case since the service itself doesn't have the ability to map drives for us. Though, I would think someone with Studio *might* be able to overcome this, but I'm not entirely sure since the service might not be loading the STV.
