Tira-1 and Girder on SageTV

I picked up the Tira-1 and girder in order to use my remote to control SageTV and my sat box using ir commands.

I've had no problem setting up the appropriate commands so that when I press a button on my remote, girder sends the appropriate command to SageTV. Thats all great!

However, my problem is that I don't know how to tell SageTV to sends ir commands through Tira to my sat box. Obviously I need SageTV to change the channels on the sat box in order to record a show when I'm not around.

The Tira-1 will send commands to the sat box, and girder can handle that I believe.....but how do I make the connection between girder and SageTV? I'm new at this and have some kind of mental block or something.

Thanks

Should I be posting this on a Girder forum?

Good question. Unless you are talking about the Actisys, getting an answer to anything IR based around here is like pulling teeth. I understand Sage using the actisys for easy compatibility, but I don't think I've ever seen a non-actisys IR question answered by a Sage employee. There seem to be about 5(rough count from memory) threads on this site about SageTV controlling a cable/satellite box with a non-actisys device. All have gone dead or unanswered by anyone with a "You can by..." or even a "No you can't do that". This is one area where Sage's great customer support falls flat on it's face, unfortunately.

Sorry you feel that way, we have never said we support Girder, only that there is a plugin available. None of us use Girder and have not taken the time to try to support it directly. That's why we took the extra effort to integrate the IR-200L into the setup for SageTV.

Did you try looking at the DirecTV serial control utility at http://www.pcmx.net/dtvcon/ ?

Actually your post in this thread and another thread you just posted in was all I was after. I just wanted some kind of definitive answer from the only people I knew I could count on to give reliable info. Believe me I'm very happy with your software, I try to plug it every where I can. Sorry if my messsage came across as harsh. I had a bad day and was a little frustrated. Either way I have an answer and will always remain a loyal customer. Thanx

Very true sorry.

Maybe put something in the documentation/website on the degree of Girder support. Also it would be great if Sage would release an "official" Girder plugin that allows both remote control of SageTV and SageTV to transmit codes to a Girder supported IR blaster. Actually just the part on changing channels on external boxes is neccessary, Girder can easily be taught to do the rest. After all your product is in the HTPC niche and Girder is the default standard for IR in this niche.
