Installed 2.1, lost my Firefly

Hi folks,

It was software update time, so I installed Sage Client 2.1 in my HTPC and figured while I'm at it, I might as well update the Snapstream software that runs my Firefly to the current version (1.2).

Now, when I'm in Sage, my Firefly won't use the Sage profile with all the functionality. It defaults to Default or Global commands, and some functions (pause, FF/REW, etc) are totally gone.

Any ideas?

Copy the file to
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SnapStream\Firefly\Profiles\
Then try your remote

It was the SpecialWindow line that fixed it.

Thanks a bunch.

Sage changed its window class several times during the 2.1 beta and this is supposed to be the "final answer".

Same issue for RW people too.

Btw, is the FF back button working for anyone w/Sage? No workie here and I don't think I can modify its action.

The Firefly's Back button works for me (at least it does right now). I just went into the Sage Commands menu and linked the button to the command. Didn't edit the Firefly's xml at all.

Hmmmmm... that won't work for me. When I try to learn the Back button (or unlearn alt-left first and then try to learn the back FF button) the FF SW makes a chirp and nothing happens. Am I doing this wrong?? I can learn other buttons (to test I tried the Menu button) but not Back. Right now I use the C button but much rather use the Back button.

Thanks for the tip. That tip works for me so I can have the back button go back to a previous channel. Geez when I was still using my other creative remote then I know that's all I had to do with linking the command like that. But I guess that I've been so brainwashed when using the firefly remote to think that I have to always edit the firefly xml files. But the firefly remote has been a godsend for me since I don't have to learn girder which I could never seem to learn. Thanks again.

OK you 2 guys say yes; SHS and I say no. What gives here???

When I try to link to any sage command I get nothing but the BMB error sound... I'll bite, how exactly are you guys doing this?

i've uninstalled 2.1.10 and i've rolled back to 2.0.19 when i saw some quirky behavior with 2.1.10 that i didn't like (i.e., sagetv opening up in a window and not fullscreen after cold boot when startup from system tray, and tv not resizing properly when going from menu pip to fullscreen and vice versa). so i don't know at this point as to any differences. just link as far as i know and assuming you're using the regular firefly software. you mention something about learning or unlearning and i don't know what that "learning" stuff is about.

Yea, link is probably a better term than learn but I meant the same. Problem is that when I try to link the Back button via Sage no command is recognized by Sage.

I go to Link Inf/K to SageTV command>choose Back (currently alt-left) press the remote button and nothing but a error sound from FF...

Could it make any difference that I'm using Client??

Scriber, I'm using Client as well, so I don't think that's it. But I've noticed that Sage doesn't remember the command linkage after a restart. Wonder why?

Strange. Perhaps this is a Sage bug then. I figured it was a FF SW limitation but perhaps not. Well perhaps your lucky it works at all...

Can you try something - if you try to use Sage to link one of hte A-D buttons to back will that work too? That won't work for me either; I had to edit the XML file then it worked fine. Also, while this shouldn't make a difference, would you mind posting your FF global and sage XML files? I'd like to compare to mine just in case. If preferred I can PM you. A lot of a**ache for one button. Thx.
