What does the SageTV log file have to say as the UI is reporting this? What version of Java are you running? I'm a bit out of touch on how WRS deals with loading problems since "someone else" authored improvements in that area, but I'll help if I can.

Looks like TWC has a new beta map on their site. They appear to have partnered with Microsoft Earth to make an interactive, and animated, weather map.

Problems with .jpg
I'm having a problem getting the following image to display:
<view name="Southdetail" location="Greensboro" speed="750" delay="3000" maxage="0.25"> <layer type="manualanimation" imageType="jpeg"/> <image href="http://www.wfmy.com/weather/WSI/sevenday.jpg"/> </view> I have no problems with animated gifs or multiple images, but this one image will not show up. Can someone tell me what I've done wrong? |

I found the problem (I think).
http://www.wfmy.com/weather/WSI/sevenday.jpg Is the link I copied down when I was planning how to customize WRS. It turns out that link redirects to http://www.wfmynews2.com/weather/WSI/sevenday.jpg. I put in the new address and it worked like a charm. Thanks for the replies Gerry. |

FYI, I've updated the link in the first post of this thread to point to the assembla.com version of the wiki.

Thanks for jogging my memory, I've been wanting to incorporate this back in to 6.3.10 since the default weather is a little crippled. Any plans to update this for 6.4? What needs to be done in Studio to make it blend in better with the current UI scheme? Thanks!

I *think* you may be able to import it and at least have it functional.
I have not been involved in Studio since the STV was refactored and since the theming work has been done so I don't have much clue as to what would be needed to adopt the conventions of the latest release(s). And, to top it all off -- no, I don't have any plans to work on this. I haven't the time, unfortunately. Sorry to deliver relatively lame responses. |

XML help needed!
I edited the weatherconfig file to my location (Cincinnati, OH), based off of a previous post that had a traffic map tab included. I installed WRS and all the weather maps work great, but I am having issues with the traffic map portion. I had feared I might, and here's the deal: The map I am "borrowing" has clickable road segments, where, when you click a segment, it takes you to listing of detailed info. It is here: http://www.artimis.org/mapseg.php I don't want the info, I just want the map, since it is color-coded for conditions. I found my way through the source code and found all of the separate .gifs that make up each segment of the total map view, as well as the area map background itself. My thought was, similar to the weather maps that have overlayed parts (city names, roads, boundary lines, etc.), that each of these .gifs would overlay and create the map I want. Unfortunately, there is info in the original source code that "locates" each segment on the map (x and y coordinates), and I don't know enough about xml or the rotan stuff in WRS to transfer this info to WRS. So when I put it into WRS, I get all of the road segments stacked on top of each other, and the background map is small and hidden, as can be seen in the attached screen shot. Here is a sampling of just some of the source code (some things cut out, and only two of the 20+ segments shown) that shows what I mean: Quote:
But with no xml knowledge and only my intuition, I am guessing that the info that I need to get into my WRS config file is the "STYLE" portion from above, specifically the "top" and "left" data as below: Quote:
Here's a piece of what I currently have in my config file. Note that I listed each segment as an animation since they sorta "jiggle" - should I just make them an "image"? Feel free to correct anything if it is wrong. Quote:
Thanks!!

Hi, pj...
If I recall correctly, you can use attributes in the XML to control the placement of images, but I'm actually pretty rusty on the whole WRS thing, so I may be off base. I'm in the process of a career alteration, so no time to dig in today. I may have some free time on my hands in the very near future, though! |

Yes, you can use attributes to scale the height and width, crop, or set X and Y anchor-points. Here is an example...
Code:
<view name="statecombo" location="Milwaukee" speed="750" delay="3000" maxage="0.25"> <layer type="animation" name="base" href="http://sirocco.accuweather.com/sat_mosaic_640x480_public/rs/isarWI_.gif" imageType="png" fixedheight="0.8" anchory="0"/> <layer type="image" name="key" href="http://vortex.accuweather.com/adc2004/common/images/keys/400x40/sat_rs.gif" imageType="png" fixedheight="0.2" fixedwidth="0.9" anchory="0.8"/> </view>

Is this still working for people?
Using the default configuration (New York for example) I get images but no data (no forecast etc) |

I use it with Sage 6.3.10 (haven't tried the 6.4.x betas yet).
Works fine, thought the interface is a little inconsistent with the current standard STV. I haven't tried the default weatherconfig file in a while -I modified mine for where I live or travel frequently and deleted the defaults cities, but maybe the New York links are out of date?

I'm laboriously working on moving the numbers that were given on the original xml over into the lines of the WRS code (copy/paste, copy/paste...), but I came to the realization... pardon the noobish nature of this question, but I have no programming knowledge whatsoever... In that code you pasted, what are the fixedwidth and anchor numbers (0.8, 0.9)... what are they a fraction of? Just the original file size? For example, my map that I am trying to piece together has X and Y coordinates that are done by pixel (so instead of, for example, 0.8, it's "360px"). What would be a good way to get that translated? If the decimal that you posted is indeed (as I guessed) a fraction of the size of the original picture, then I could make my original background picture 1000x1000 pixels, and then add a decimal point in front of those pixel numbers, and it should be right... your thoughts?
