I'd like to build a plugin that displays some webcams... Is the WRS source code accessible?

Thanks,

Erik.

I think when Opus told you to check out WRS, he meant you can use it to display the images. No need to write a new plugin.

Or, if you do want to rebrand it a bit, you can use the "rotan" (rotating animated images) classes from the WRS source. Those are the ones that deal with animation and reanimation. The WRS stuff is mostly about formatting on the screen, menuing and downloading weather data.

I had a short look and I'm not sure that out of the box this would be good enough for webcams... The update time for images is in hours in the XML... that's not good enough for webcams. Where can I find the WRS source?

Thanks

Erik.

but decimals are supported, as in the sample XML file:
Code:
maxage="0.25"

I would like to be able to see the detailed forecasts that are available on most of the weather sites. I have not seen this ability in any of the Weather plugins for Sage (only short descriptions like "mostly cloudy"). Does anyone know of a way to do this?

Is there any way to view the WRS source to see what functions can be called from Sage using Studio? Or maybe if I saw how you collect the data you currently get, I could figure out how to extend it?

Here's an example of what I'm looking to get:

Quote:
Day: Windy. Snow flurries and a few snow showers throughout the day. Temps nearly steady in the low to mid 30s. Winds WSW at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of snow 30%. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.

Night: Windy. Flurries and snow showers diminishing late. Low 27F. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of snow 30%.

Very interesting... good work!

Can someone help with this feature or bug:
Using SageTV 4.1.63 client, when I choose any from the Sponsored Links menu (pollen, airport delays), the result is my (Firefox) browser goes to that URL. Maybe this is the way it's supposed to work? Of course, I expected a display in the SageTV window (I'm not in full screen mode).

Observation of bug/feature: the Area Radar and Metro Radar buttons are absent when the chosen location is the first in the list of locations.

The browser is supposed to open. Those buttons are there to satisfy the weather.com license agreement more than they are there to actually be used by real people.

It's been a while, so I can't remember, but does the default config file have those menus configured for the location that you're looking at? If not then that would explain the absence of the menus.

The WRS source is in the sageplugins project at sourceforge.

Re "does the default config file have those menus configured for the location that you're looking at" - I think: Yes. The buttons I mentioned are missing for the first city in the list in the default config file. The buttons do appear for the other two cities (2nd, 3rd) in the list of locations.

I just installed Sage 4 and I am very interested in (WRS) Weather Report Suite, And I am confused about how to setup with a fresh copy of Sage 4, the install for (WRS)refers to ver 3 of Sage, and using Dynamic menu's. I am new to Sage.

I did a import the WRS.stv, but didn't seee a menu item for WRS.

Thanks

Install Nielm's Dynamic Menus ...

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13527

Then you can simply add Salsbst's WRS to your "custom" menu.

Thumbs up How to add Weather Report Suite to your SageTV menu

T

Thanks T

The install instructions need to be revised for new users of SageTV.

Install Nielm's Dynamic Menus ...

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13527

Then you can simply add Salsbst's WRS to your "custom" menu.

I was then able to add the WRS module
by right clicking on my screen
then select [Add New Menu Item] -> [Internal Screen]
Then scroll down list till you see [Weather Report Suite - salsbst]
and select that item from the list.

Anyway, I was able to add a menu item for WRS which opens in the default weather view for DC (default weatherconfig.xml has DC
Pittsburg, and New York , I now have to now edit this file for my location).

I will keep reading other post to see how to modfy the weatherconfig.xml

I am in the Tampa,Florida area
any weatherconfig.xml for that area would be great

Thanks
Scat

Detroit Area XML

Here is a version for the Detroit, Michigan area. This includes traffic cams for around the 696 & 75 area.
Hope you enjoy, I worked hard on this.

Please remove the .txt

Edit: Moved some stuff around & fixed the traffic cams. This also includes local weather for Arizona and Florida. If you don't want to use those, just remove them in the locations section.

I'm using v6.0.15. I imported the file, created a menu entry using the Dunamic Menu plugin, selected the new item, and I get the following error:

"Failed to load WRS java classes"

Any fixes or suggestions?
