Recording 4:3 not 16:9 with black borders
Hello,
I am playing with SageTV for a couple of days now on a 'old' Compaq 800Mhz (yes really ) and it works great. XMLtv is working perfectly and I've scheduled an entire week of recordings for this week, just to testdrive it. What I don't understand though, and I've seen a similar post (but from 2003): http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...ead.php?t=2752 What's my problem? I've a widescreen 32" TV, and I've played with all aspect ratio settings, source, fill, 16:9, 4:3 etc, and while viewing live TV it's like 80% allright. But I have these annoying black borders on top and bottom. I've set it to source and 120% vertical stretch and 80 vertical offset, and now I have like 2 inches black borders on top and bottom. Also, this is seen in my recordings. I can manually zoom my TV to 16:9, with this method I have fullscreen TV. But still, the black borders are also in my recordings and I don't want that! Is there software available which automatically crops the video while recording, or even after recording using a nightly schedule? Thanks in advance! |

No can do automatic crops.
Keep mind that all recording are done in 4x3 not ture a 16x9 . |

Perhaps a possibility then for 3rd party software to run in a nightly event? I know competitor 'showshifter' has an option to squeeze the recorded MPEG files to whatever DiVX quality files, to save diskspace.
It would be great to remove these black borders by software. |

This post also gave me a nice hint:
http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...1&postcount=16 Weird SageTV locks it on 480, though PAL resolution is 576. Last edited by hansel; 11-02-2004 at 12:32 PM. |
