Planning on trying the newest beta... install over top?

I've just downloaded the latest beta, should I just install over top?

Or backup everything and uninstall it and go from there?

I might be blind tonight but I can't seem to find any recommenations
on the site or in the forums tonight.

I think it's bed-time.

I'll check back tomorrow.
Thanks,
Chris

I always exit SageTV completely, make a backup of the entire "Frey Technologies" install dir, then install over the top of the previous version. This keeps all my settings, so when I start SageTV after the installation, everything is ready to go. It also gives me a backup of the old installation in case something goes wrong.

Cool.... that's exactly how I've been handling things too.

Sometimes I even to a "ghost image" of my C: Drive.

With all the new updates, I thought it my be needed to remove and do a clean install.

I think they need to add this to the list of directions on the beta page somewhere for those who are downloading and trying new versions.

Thanks for that quick reply, I didn't expect it so quickly this time of night.

Good night!

While they don't give exact detailed instructions about backing up things, the Beta download page does say:

We highly recommend backing up your Sage.properties and Wiz.bin files along the way as you upgrade to new versions.
For myself, I just make a copy of the entire Frey folder so that I have all my extra custom STV's and stuff. Too much work to redo all that extra stuff if I mess up something along the way. I also keep another seperate backup set of just the wiz.bin and properties files (just in case).
