Just tried it - amazing!
Thanks Matt!

You just solved me the problem of my sons' play room - had no live TV there only recorded (MVP). My wife and I thank you.

Just a question - Can I now use some other STVs on the client (streaming the mvp)?

Thanks again,
Oren.

Glad you like it! Any other STV should work. Only thing I can think of that will not work is the preview window and external applications like Webbrowsers.

Not sure how STVs with hight screen refresh rate (Screen savers? Animated pictures?) will behave, other than consuming lots of CPU time on the PC to render the screen and to send it compressed to the MVP.

Please let me know if you run across STVs that don't work with the MVP.

-Matt

It's highly unlikely that the animated radar maps in Weather Report Suite will function in an acceptable manner (high resolution maps like the NOAA U.S. Satellite can give trouble even to a PC). I've been contemplating the option of converting these to MPEG2 files prior to display in a future version of WRS.

It seems like Matt has taken the MVP right to its limits.

This is just what I have been waiting for. It works great. I have a couple of questions:

I have 2 MVP's. Don't understand how to get them both working.

The MVP with the native software will play DivX. Sage will play my DivX stuff. Just curious why the MVP client doesn't.

Again, this is really awesome. If I can figure out how to use more than one MVP I can reclaim some of my computers.

IIUC, you need to run one SageTVClient.exe on your PC for each MVP that you want to use (each would have a different port number).

SprDtyF350 you may not want run 2nd MVP uint becuase it dbl memory usage what you seeing now.
MVP with the native DivX is done by software which has be transcoder over MPEG that not really native DivX support only one device I know of that turely dose it and is a REALmagic Xcard which dose have native DivX/XivD support but it not support under SageTV.

Thanks for that info.. I guess I will go back to the Sage MVP mod for now. I need to be able to use both of my MVPs or my kids will have me in the doghouse..

Too bad, the client sure is nice..

You can run multiple instances of the client by using the -multi command lien parameter. (See Appendix D of the manual.) I don't know anything about the MVP, however, but I think the directions from the first post mention having to install the client to its own directory for each instance to use it with multiple MVPs.

Edit: While I run multiple clients quite often, I run them from the same install directory. I have not tried running them form multiple dirs.

I did install them to separate directories but when I would try to run them only 1 would go. I will do some reading in the manual and checkout the multi parameter.

Thanks, Randy

I cannot wait till 2.1 goes gold, and I will jump all over this. Thank you so very much for this client!

On another note, does this seem easily doable? without access to the infamous "studio", i cannot see much of the inner workings...sigh

3: In the SageClient.properties of copy 1, change mvp/mvp=MVP1 to MVP2.

(by default, ports are setup for 5 MVPs in mvp.properties).
5: Make a shortcut for each SageTVClient.exe rename to SageTVMPV2, etc you need add -multi command line parameter to allow it to run another instance by rigth click on and going to properties.

Now start all the SageTVClients. If all goes well (would be pretty much a miracle), each MVP should connect to one SageTVClient...
Did all the above. Have 2 clients that start up, and 1 MVP that works. The other one gives me a "Failed to locate GUI server" message. Back to the drawing board.

This is fun....

just a question
can you run a version of SageTV client on the Server that is running with a Service and is running its own Client (well regular SageTV) with 2.1

so you can run SageTV 2.1 on a TV and a MVP client on another TV from the same computer?

hope that is clear enough
