Just when you thought Tivo was trying to still compete

You don't seem to get it. This move benefits Tivo. The ability to timeshift PPV in all likelihood increased overall sales of PPV. People want the flexibility to watch their shows at their own convenience, and recording PPV allowed you to do this. Now with restrictions, fewer people will use PPV which is GOOD for Tivo since they're going to begin selling VOD content from Netflix. At present, Tivo gets nothing if you buy PPV from your cable/sat provider, so this move just helps lessen Tivo competition.

It can help revenue in the way you mention Erics, but it will stop many from even considering TIVO or will cause some people to jump ship from TIVO. Overall, I'll be willing to wager that it hurts them more overall then help.
