RF remote with new box

Ok I am going to be taking the directv plunge. Well I live in Los Angeles but moving to an area that has no high speed internet. So I have decided to oreder Direcway two way internet. On of my concerns were that they did'nt offer RCA recevers with the package. I really wanted the low speed data port. Well the sales rep explaned to me that the Huqes Excecutive edition does have this feature for $40.00 upgrade and an RF remote. I think I know the answer to the question but here goes. The RF really has nothing to do with the changing of Sage channels if I were to use the Low speed data port. If I am correct I would use say my wintv remote to change the channel on sage which would then change the channel on the directv box.
