Arrow STV: SageMC - 1.0 Jan 9

Note: mlbdude has stated here that he is no longer going to be developing this STV. Watter posted here that he has adopted this STV project and will be continuing its development. This thread is now closed.

Please continue discussion of this STV in the thread Watter started for this purpose: SageMC Part 2.

All, I am currently working on a new STV for SageTV. At this time I am calling it Sage Media Center. Yes, it is somewhat based on MS MCE. This is an STV I am putting together so that my wife will allow me to extract MCE from our front room . When it is done I will share with everyone. Some will not like it because it will probably oversimplify some things and you will be better off with one of the new "all in one" STV's. Others will like that it is simple.

At this time I am not taking any requests for this STV and will be releasing it in a "as is" state.

I know how much this group loves progress reports so I will be uploading new screens every so often until I am done. For now you can check these out. Something new to see at least.

Enjoy

Beta 1 released - 12/29/2004

Beta 2 released - 12/30/2004
Changed back behavior in Movies so that when you are viewing a listing of movies for a particular genre going back will now take you back to the genre list.
Fixed refresh issue with grouped recordings after delete.
Fixed lack of refresh issue when adding a recording to the Archive.
Modified Preview Window behavior to give users that don't want video preview appropriate access to now playing media.
Changed some item text for conflict items.
Don't show "Don't Like" button in Program Info if Intelligent Recording is disabled for space reasons.
Modified behavior of Play command to always take you to full screen playback.

RC1 released - 1/2/2005
Corrected issues with Series and recording menu items when viewing a group.
Correctd backwards setting for Start Padding.
Added back Advanced Record menu to Program Info where needed.
Fixed missing icon in Guide for a Recording if show was also a Recurring Recording.
Added guide show icons to Channel Guide.
Corrected issue with updating Recurring Recordings with keywords, categories, or actors.
Channel up and Channel down commands now use mini-guide during live playback.
Fixed issue with Play in full screen playback sending playback into 2x playback with no sound.
Other showsings of currently airings shows no longer includes the current airing in the list.

UPDATE: Release 1.0 - 1/9/2005
Changed Channel Up and Channel Down commands to how they were pre-RC1.

Download at SageMC 1.0

Unzip to your "Frey Technologies\SageTV" folder MAKE SURE you unzip it with the propper folder structure.

Beta 1 supplimental documentation:
SageMC Docs

I want to give thanks to all who have contributed to this project. Particularly to Samsonite and the MediaPortal project. Most of the MCE images used in SageMC are from the excellent MC skin Samsonite created for that project and without them this project would not have been able to start. Both he and the MediaPortal project deserve our thanks for keeping the retail guys on their toes.

Thanks also to pcuoco for the Show Icons used in this STV.

Also want to thank Stanger89 for providing all the Java code that interfaces with the DVDProfiler data.

FAQ:

#1 This STV uses the Back button to navigate to a previous menu. There is not Left button functionality as in the default SageTV STV.

#2 Weather images are not guaranteed to be there. They use the Condition string to find a matching weather image in the weather images folder.

#3 At this time it is recommended that you use the default STV for setup and configuration. Only day to day usage menus have been setup for SageMC.

I did not know you had something going with that title . I can change it. Guess I will go with MlbDude3 .

That is just ep. 1 of FMA(Alchemist) but Panic is good too .

Actually we don't have a name for it yet, but when I saw yours it just seemed to fit

All those Fullmetal 'x' can get confusing. I was trying to figure out why I didn't recongnize the video.

You could always go with McDude.

I like the look of it & I could think of lots of ways to keep that look and still make it a "power-user" STV... but I won't go into that since you don't want to go there.

MCE is fine on my 16:9 TV. It is just the DVD library addon that has issues with my resolution.

That's sweet! I just changed my Meedio software to look like MCE. This SageTV STV will be perfect!

Two questions though.

1. Can the artwork on the main menu be substituted easily? (like that camera in the first screen shot)

2. I noticed there is no sleep mode on your skin. Is this a V2.1 change or something just for your skin?

1. The images will be in a folder so changing them should be easy.

2. If you have seen the real MCE, it has an icon in the upper left corner of the start menu. Opening up this will give you the options to Sleep, Close SageTV, Restart the PC, or Shutdown the PC. It is just not there yet .

Mlbdude,

You are truly amazing ......My wife started smiling when she saw this ...(I'm getting jealous). This is exactly the stv we have been looking for in several rooms where guests use Sage.
Purrrrfect, if you need any testers count us in!

Doug

quick question, I noticed you have 2 different background images, one for Start screen and one that says television. Can you have more than 2 and does that mean that studio users can make STV's with more than 2? That will go a long way in dressing up sage
