Got the USB-UIRT –No configuration guide?

Wow… This is interesting… I finally received my USB-UIRT, loaded and setup the drivers, ok.. so.. now what..? I guess you’re suppose to wild guess the process of how to train your remote control/ Sat box? There’s no guide, FAQ, or examples of this on his site. Sage has been configured to use the UIRT as appropriate. Um, does anyone know what it is I’m supposed to do now? I'm using the Hauupauge 250 with the included remote.

Many thanks,

Dave

See the Setup Wizard section in the SageTV manual -- you can run through the Setup Wizard, tell it to use the USB-UIRT to control the box, and it will have you teach it the commands from the remote for that box. SageTV will then use the USB-UIRT to change the channel on the box as needed when it records a show.

Ah.. I was thinking I may have to do that, but avoided it, since it means I have to re-configure my channel setup again/ edit all the crap channels out, etc. I do remember seeing a wizard for this somewhere -I guess that's where it was. I've give it a try.

Thanks,

Dave

Well, unfortunately that doesn’t work. I went through the whole process of enabling the UIRT, and pushed 0 as it instructs. All I get is a “There was an error learning the remote control code. Release the button when instructed.” Doesn’t really tell me a whole lot.

I did notice that the light on the UIRT transceiver ‘does not’ flash (while in testing mode), but will begin to flash once the testing mode times out with that error message on Sage. Is there something else I’m supposed to do here?

Thanks again,

Dave

I got it. The 0 key when testing does not always work –if this happens, you need to push/ try multiple keys until the red light starts flashing. At this point, all is well and it’ll walk you through the rest of the learning process.

Thanks,

Dave
