Some channels aren't clear

I've only had an AIW and have gotten a new system with a Hauppauge 350 card and really like it so far. But, while using the same cable lines (making no changes other than a new system) some of the channels are not clear. Most of these are in the higher numbers. I have analog cable and all my channels were perfect with the ATI card and on my tv's so it's not the signal coming in. The cable I have is the highest quality (gold) and was $$$$. It still looks fine in the old system.
Are there settings I can try to help this?
Thanks

Try using Sonic or nVidia decoders. Sonic decoder can be downloaded from the Sonic web site for $15. nVidia has to come with nVidia cards, TT2 or possibly from a pal that has them already.

Nice decoder but doesn't work

I can see a small difference in final quality but the channels I had trouble with still are snowy.

There is more loss in cable as the frequency goes higher, so higher channels usually are slightly weaker than lower number channels. Could be the tuner in the 350 is not as good as your others, or might just be a bad one. If you can exchange it to try a different one I'd say try that first. Otherwise, try putting an amp in the line to boost the signal (Radio Shack has several models).

Also, the 350 might be picking up interference from other cards in the computer (which could be throwing off its tuner automatic gain control). Could try moving it to different card slot further away from other cards (especiallly video, ethernet, or hard drive controller cards).

pcostanza,

I am experiencing the same problem. I have the PVR 350 video out going to my TV and the high channels are snowy. If I use the bundled software, everything is fine, but not so with Sagetv.
