ACTiSYS to change sageTV channel

Hi All,

Thanks to Dan @ Frey, i got my Actisys at the weekend, just plugged it in, went through setup wizard and lo and behold, changing channels in sageTV now changes my sky digibox.. hooooorah

however... (isnt' there always a however!) when i use my remote to change channels on the digibox, the channel in sageTV doesn't change at the same time. It's as if it's just ignoring any captured IR signal. It worked fine during the setup, when it was training all the 0-9 numbers. But doesnt seem to want to change the channel in sage for me when in use.

Any ideas?

Are you using your digibox remote control? It sounds to me like you are, and the remote is changing your box channel, not sage. You need to let SageTV change your channel, which means you probably want to use a different remote to control it. If that doesn't apply to your situation, you may need to adjust the delay timings for the IR transmitter.

Hi Mark,

I'm using one of those oneforall universal remotes which i've already got it doing the pause etc. for sage since i got it to learn the hauppauge controls. I just thought that it could also be used with the IR200L so that when i'm changing my satellite channel, it would also change it on sage that way if i change a channel in sage or on my digibox they are both always in synch and on the same channel?

Thanks

You can use that remote just fine, but you can't use it to change the channel BOTH on your box and in Sage. You need to be changing the channel in Sage exclusively, and then let Sage use the IR transmitter to change the channel on your box.

ok thanks Mark,

i've done just that now, got it just changing channels in sage after i got it to re-learn 0-9 from my hauppauge remote instead of my digibox.

One final question for you on IR, is it possible to have sage learn & send another command after changing channels? Here in the UK we have a really annoying little red dot or banner at the top of some programs which stays there until you press the "back-up" key on your remote. Is it possible to get sage to learn the backup code from my digibox remote and replay that one after it changes channel?

Thanks

It should be possible to. You can learn an "ENTER" command that some boxes need. Teach that command your backup key and see what happens. If that doesn't work, then I'm at the limits of my IR transmitting knowledge, and Jeff'll have to jump in.

The easiest way is to use the IR setup in SageRecorder (just use the trial). You can specify a "Channel Confirm Key", which you can use for what you're interested in.

Once the channel confirm key is programmed, how do you get SageTV to use it?
