Newbie help: I want to record Monday Night Football but ....

The guide has it set as 9 - 12 but we know the game never ends before 12:30.
Question: Am I forced to do a timed record or is there something I'm missing.
Just curious, thanks. Of course this would be the same problem for most sports events

You can pad the recording to add extra time -- check the manual: if it is a Favorite, see pages 52-53; if it is a Manual Recording, see pages 38-39.

hmm. I think padding has a cap at 15 minutes, or at the most 30. Problem is MNF can go past that. I think you are better off setting a timed recording in this instance. MNF has only been cancelled once in its history I believe so there's no real danger in getting a porgram that isn't there.

I think you misread the instructions for changing the padding time -- there are buttons to change the time by 15 minute increments; it doesn't say 15 (or even 30) minutes is the max. Set the padding time to whatever you want & let us know if there are problems.

I pad 1 hour to the end of MNF and it works well. Also, we all know the game doesn't start till 10-15 minutes after 9, so I have it start recording late, no point in recording all those commercials and Madden babbling.
