Prolink remote works?

Hi, I was just wondering if the Prolink playtv@7000 remote worked with Sage? The card is listed as supported but how about the remote? Thanks!

Also, this is gonna be a dumb noob question but, I see the ATI all-in-wonder cards are not supported (wish it was then I'd have two tuners right away ). However, I have a 7500 AIW. Can that be used just for TV output? Will there be driver problems? I also have a Geforce 3 with TV out. Should I use that instead? The problem is that it dosen't fill my TV even at 640x480 resolution and with TV tool. Whereas the ATI TV out does a real good job of filling my TV screen fully.

Yes, you can use it as your video card for the monitor & TV out. It was just the inability to use its TV tuner (it isn't a hardware encoder) that was being referred to.

FWIW ... I use the ATI AIW 9700 Pro on my server for TV out and it works just fine. What it does do that my old Nvidia couldn't is Semi-Transparent OSD's, but to answer your other question, no driver issues for me.

Thanks guys! Then I will go ahead and use the 7500 for TV out. I guess I am just going to have to give the demo a try, as soon as I finish putting this box together, and see if the Prolink remote works. Its the only remote I have besides the one that came with the 7500 AIW. However, that one is pretty bad. I want to say thanks again! This forum is far more responsive than the Snapstream one for newbie questions. That is really great as I have decided Sage is the way to go for me as it supports my prolink card for TV capture.

Your welcome Silkshadow .... FYI ... I also use the AIW Remote Wonder Remote Control. I used to use the Hauppauge Remote that came with my 250 card but it conflicted with my Phillips TV remote since the Hauppauge remote was OEM'ed by Phillips. I like the fact that it the ATI RW supports USB. Also, there is a Sage Plug-in that takes advantage of all the RW buttons and allows you to program the 6 custom buttons for other Sage specific commands. There is also a hack to assign the TV button to launch Sage. It was a little clunky at first, but I have gotten the hang of it and grown to like it ... Just one mans opinion.

Also, BTW, being new to Sage, you might want to check out some of the custom STV's available on this forum. I love them ... and have used MlbDude2 (some great Sage enhancements) and Nielm 1.5 (very cool custom XML menu capabilities), but there are about 5 to choose from.

Enjoy ... T.

Thanks again mightyt! I guess, at least, if the prolink remote dosen't work I can fall back on the AIW one . The thing that bugs me about the AIW remote is the location of the play/fw/rw buttons which is at the bottom of the remote. After spending years using Tivo, I have just got used to having these buttons at the natural thumb resting place of the middle . I will definately look inot those plugins. I am starting to get real excited about putting this computer together. Hopefully I can start tomorrow.

Yea, I agree ... what design genius came up with that idea?

I also wish they had colored the custom buttons for easy recognition

but ...

It didn't cost me any more since the ATI AIW RW came with the card ...

So, Enjoy building your PVR ... T.
