Talking Thinking outside the box ... Maybe way out!

I've been reading about the new PVR150 card and the lower cost based upon moving from two to one A/V chip.

Here's my potentially stupid question. If cards can have less chips and lower costs ... and the desire for multi-tuner PVR systems is growing, what is the possibility of Hauppauge and others ever releasing a multi-tuner card?

At a time where slot space may be limited and multi-tuner is desirable, this would provide the advantage that dual monitor video cards provide with two VGA outputs rather than 2 video cards.

I'd love to see a single card with multi-tuner inputs!!

Is this a crazy idea???

T.

I saw somewhere (SHSs probably) MSRP is $199, and Dan said Frey "plans" to support any HW encoders that come to market:

The key to me is Sage supported ... the 500 looks very promising should the actual price be right ...

Unless the 500 will support multi S video, which I have yet to find out, It think it is going to be a mediocre card.

Actually I just read how it works and it does not support dual S-video. While it is a nice idea to have dual turners on a card w/o-video or composite it is a waste to many such as my self who use DirecTV and who want more then basic channels.

Unless you don't need dual S-Video ... then it's an excellent card ...

Again, AFIAK the 500 supports multiple S-Video, it's just that the second (and 3rd IIRC) are available on headers on the card instead of on the back pannel.

You could always just rig up a slot cover with S-Video+L/R Audio.
