DVD VOBs being cut off on screen
I have a number of DVDs that I ripped down to the VOB format to play via Sage. I can watch the DVD on SageTV, but the picture is being cut off on the screen. howver, when I play a DVD via the DVD player everything looks great...
Any suggestions? |

Don't remove the other DVD files. Store a complete DVD structure. Whatever DVD Shrink outputs works just fine, Sage recognizes it as a DVD and all.

Ok, I used DVD XPress. Does this program rip a compatiable image for SageTV as well as DVD Shrink?

Does it leave all the correct files?
You should have a folder (eg) Y:\DVDs\Somemovie in it you should have a VIDEO_TS folder (ie) Y:\DVDs\Somemovie\VIDEO_TS and in that you should have a bunch of DVD files, for example Star wars looks like this: Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.BUP Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.VOB Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_0.BUP Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_0.IFO Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_0.VOB Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_0.BUP Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_0.IFO Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_1.VOB Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_03_0.BUP Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_03_0.IFO Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_03_1.VOB Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_04_0.BUP Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_04_0.IFO Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_04_0.VOB Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_04_1.VOB Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_04_2.VOB Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_04_3.VOB Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_04_4.VOB Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_04_5.VOB Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_04_6.VOB Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_04_7.VOB Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_05_0.BUP Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_05_0.IFO Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_05_0.VOB Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_05_1.VOB Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_06_0.BUP Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_06_0.IFO Y:\DVDs\Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Stikes Back\VIDEO_TS\VTS_06_1.VOB Did you add ".vob" to the library import extensions? Because if you keep the whole structure, you don't need to add anything to the properies file, Sage will automatically detect DVD rips. Oh, and FWIW, you don't have to store the whole DVD, just a valid DVD file structure (you can rip just a movie with DVD Shrink or strip a movie with IFO Edit). I don't know about DVD XPress (all I could find is this and it doesn't look like a DVD ripper), but AFAIK most DVD software is capable of ripping a DVD in "File Mode". I happen to like DVD Shrink best because it's free and you can very easily rip just the main movie (no menues/extras) to save space. |

I'm sorry DVD Xcopy -- formerly from 321 Studios... Like I said it's showing and playhing, but it's getting cut off...
I'll give DVD Shrink a try -- free is for me & let's see what happens... Thanx! |

Yeah, I don't know for sure, but when you loose the IFO's and such, you loose other things as well (Chapter info, default stream, AR?) so having the IFOs might help.

I tried DVD Shrink and it worked! Thanks...
Now, I am left with one more issue -- I've tried to shut off closed caption, but unable to. I am using the Sonic drivers. I have tried shutting it off from Sage. Then I tried to find a way to go thru Sonic to do it, but couldn't find anything. Any Suggestions here? |

I have heard this has been problems for others when using Sonic Decoders but not an issue for me |

Do you get the DVD OSD or the standard media OSD? The DVD OSD has chapter and audio stream info in the top left.
