SageTV deleting my NEW recordings?!

This is a strange problem - everytime I close SageTV, it deletes everything that was recorded that day... I have no idea why it's doing it though.

Any help appreciated.

What kind of recordings are they? LiveTV, Favorites, Manuals, IR? Also why are you exiting SageTV?

I exit to restart my computer... and they're either favorites or manual recordings.

In the end, I deleted my install and reinstalled it, and it seemed to work, but still, it's kinda annoying...

Maybe something is getting corrupted in the wiz.bin file & reverting to wiz.bak, but I don't know why... unless it is not exiting properly before rebooting. (?) I always set the property "use_errant_dir=true" so that if SageTV sees a recording it doesn't think should be there, it will move it to a subdirectory called "errant" in the video dir where the recording is found. You'll lose the detailed show info, but the recording will still exist.

It's not necessary to use the errant directory in Sage 2. Sage will automatically move any file it does not recognize to the imported files list. I think that in Sage 1, the errant directory was set to true by default, and now it's set to false by default for that reason. I would check this out to know for sure, but whatever the default setting is, that's what I'm using, and after corruption, recordings have been moved to the imported files list.

zz5: I think I misspelled it anyway, but that is interesting. I thought it had deleted files on me the last time it was set to false, but on a test system just now, I set it to false and deleted wiz.bin & wiz.bak (how much more corrupted can you get?). The files were put into the video library, just like you said. I'll have to look into this more, since I must have missed the functionality change!

I don't think this is right. I just recently changed a drive letter in windows (for the wrong drive as it turns out) and when I booted up Sage it looked to the new drive thinking it was the old drive and of courese didn't find any recordings so it apparently deleted the records from the database. When I realized my mistake and corrected it on the windows side and restarted Sage which as it turns out was a HUGE mistake because once it found the right drive with recordings it now no longer had in it's database it proceeded to wipe about 20 gig of recordings. I got about half back using various recovery tools et al but I am here to tell you it WILL wipe out recordings it doesn't think belongs.

Quite a design flaw in my opinion that the default choice is to automatically delete data without any user dialog/interaction whatsoever. The default of automatic deletition is bad bad bad.

peace . . .
