Media Center computer

Sorry if this is wrong forum. I have a Gateway Media Center XL computer with tv.l I have a Motorola DCT2000 cable box. When I try to set up the tv on the computer it goes to step 3 where I have to take cable remote and punch in numbers, starting with 0, and hold 0 button until computer setup recognizes it. Problem is the number only stays on for a couple of seconds, not enough time for setup to recognize it. Contacted Gateway, sent me to Motorola tech support, saying they had a support sytem for Gateway. Was told by them they knew nothing about it. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Are you running SageTV or Windows MCE? Two completely different apps. If it is MCE then you are pretty much in the wrong place. If you are running Sage then I'm sure someone will be able to help.

Sounds like you're having trouble with the MCE cable box setup, if that's the case, your best bet would be one of the MCE boards, like http://www.thegreenbutton.com/. Co to the community forums there and post your question, and someone should be able to help you out.
