For some reason Sage TV plays the movies I purchased but it doesn't same to be able to play my home made DVD's even though my other DVD players can. I get error that there's no DVD in the drive.

My guess is it is the drive itself, and I'm guessing that it is more than a year old.
I have a similar problem with my DVD drive in my laptop. If I burn a DVD+R with the normal book type of "DVD+R" it won't read the disk. If I change the book type to "DVD-ROM" (this is the same as a store bought one) it plays fine. No matter what I do with the book type for a DVD+RW, it won't read it. Support for setting the book type for your recordable DVDs vary by recorder. Check your manufacturer's web site support section to see if this feature is supported. You might have to do a bios update to get the feature. If the drive is older than a year or two, the easiest thing may be to replace the drive that won't play the recorded DVD's HTH -mark |

Does Windows see a disk in the drive?

what application(s) are you using to create your DVD?

If Windows can't see the dvd, then its probably the dvd-rom drive. I have one thats a few years old, and it can't see dvd+r discs. It used to not be able to see rw discs either, but a firmware update changed that.
There may be a firmware update for your dvd-rom drive to correct the behavior. ...Of course, if Windows can see the disc, then its something else. |

If your DVD burner supports it, try setting the book type to DVD-ROM (NEC's support it with the correct firmware, most models anyway). Once I started changing my booktype on my burns, all my DVD players in the house will play 'em, even my Apex TV with a built in DVD player, it wouldn't even play some original disks, but plays all my burned ones just fine since I changed 'em...
If you're using Nero, it's under the recorder selection section, at the bottom (Change Booktype). If it's not supported, do a search at http://forum.rpc1.org/viewforum.php?f=2 for your drive, and see if there is a modded firmware for it.
