Windows XP SP2 Poll
OK, so it's been over a month since SP2 was released. I figure many Sage users have jumped in the deep end of the pool and made the upgrade. I am considering doing so myself on my Sage Server. I thought before I do so, I would take a poll ...

IMHO it won't give you anything you haven't already got
I rebuilt my HTPC today & loaded SP2 onto it just because I could, not because I needed super duper security *laugh* so far no problems

After upgrading to SP2 on my SageTV server and one of my clients, hardware acceleration no longer works correctly in NVDVD and sonic decoders when using VMR9. With hardware accel enabled I get massive distortion of the video. If you're you are using VMR9 with either of these decoders I'd avoid upgrading to SP2.

Not using HW Acceleration coz the video card can't handle it... I'll upgrade it one of these days.

I posted a poll a while ago similar to this one: http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...&threadid=7107
And SP2 and VMR9 works great on my main PC. My client is a bit too small to use VMR, but over lay works great on it. What video card are you running? And since there are so many 'NO' votes, care to back that up with info as to why it's a bad idea?

Sorry that you feel that your video card should support DXVA when it does not since you spent 500 dollars on it

I was intrigued... here are a couple of other references to the Ti series not having DXVA:

If SP2 has problems with DXVA/VMR9, then why does it work on 2 machines at my house? Both have Nvidia cards (one 5900XT, other 5600)? It may be something in other drivers, software or codecs on your system that's making it have problems. Never-the-less, you're having problems, so I woudln't use SP2. Down the road if you want to try SP2 again, I'd do it with a slipstreamed copy of XP, with SP2 embedded in. Might work better to start from scratch (I know I can't remember EVERY edit/reghack/etc that I've done on my main system).

Currently have NVDVD 4.0x running on that machine, my other machine running client (lappie whenever I want to start it up) uses Intervideo. The other machine with Nvidia is also running NVDVD without any problems.
Only thing I can figure on the main server is that I've been putting SP2 betas on it since I first got the machine running, maybe some settings in the old betas make it work? I'll most likely end up using Intervideo's Windvd 6 on the main server before too long, I like the output from it better than the NVDVD.

Where did you get NVDVD 4? I can't find it anywhere. I'm still running NVDVD 2.55.
