Sage 2.0.19 Locking up solid
Here is my setup:
Pentium 600 mhz 512 mb ram Hauppage PVR-250 NVidia GeForce MX2 TV-out only 80gb hd Soundblaster SageTV 2.0.19 Intervideo decoder (the one that comes with the 250) Everything seems fine until I turn the tv off and everything, but leave the sage box running. Randomly (5 mins to 5 days) the computer will lock solid. The hard drive light is solid, and nothing will wake it up. I have to power the system off and reboot. I have tried ctl-alt-del and everyother keystroke I can think of. I have let the system sit like that for days hoping it would wake up. It doesn't. Sage will not record anything while it is locked up. I have turned off every kind of power management utilities I can find, they are all off. Anybody got any other ideas? |

use the sleep option in SageTV rather than leaving it open
try updating to the newest version and your Processor is a little bare minimum I wonder if it is locking up during a download or self update(schedule) make sure you have the latest java only installed and not older versions as well |

I have no tried the most recent version of Sage, I have tried the sleep mode and leaving it open.
At this time, I cannot upgrade the processor, but according to the minimum requirements, I should be fine there. ( I accidentally lied in my previous post, I actually have a Pentium 800 mhz ) I cannot believe that it is locking up during an update or download. Why else would sage be downloading something other than the listings? I am using the most recent versions of java and all the drivers from Hauppage. This is a rather clean install of Windows 2000. I installed a minimum operating system and installed sage. Nothing else is running in the background. It almost looks like the hard drive is 'parking' or something. I checked with Western Digital on their website, but there is nothing there that helped me. Any other ideas? Thanks. |

Maybe it's a power-saving issue? Can you check your power-saving settings - maybe it's powering down the hard drive after a certain idle period, and having trouble spinning it back up again.
That's under display properties->Screen Saver at the bottom of the dialog. |

Turn off 3d acceleration if it is not already off.

I seemed to have solved the problem by installing a new hard drive (old 8 GB HD) and installing Windows 2000 and sage on that drive and then reformatting the 80GB drive for Sage files only. I have been running that for several days now and all seems fine.
