Last EPG update wrong
My sage computer is disconnected from my network most of the time. I connect it once or twice a week only so that it can get the programming data.
Unfortunately, I can't go into System Info to see when I last got an update because the 'Last EPG Update' field is often wrong. If the computer is off of the network for more than 24 hours, SageTV just enters a random time in the past 24 hours for Last Update. Why does it do this? |

This is a bug in Sage. What happens is that Sage will try to get the listings every 24 hours, and if it can't (because the connection is down), that's when the trouble starts. It seems to be keeping conflicting data. It thinks it has updated because it lists the last update time when it really hasn't updated, but it also reports that it will update in 0 minutes, even though the time of the last update may be shown as less that 24 hours ago. This bug has been there since version 1. The only workaround I know is to restart Sage. You can't just put it to sleep. After restarting, it will update the listings properly.

You should be able to go to Channel Setup, toggle a channel off & then back on (or vice versa), then select Done. That is one trick for forcing an EPG update w/o having to restart. Does that work in this situation?

No, that doesn't work. Once it's in this state, you can even go so far as to select different lineups, but you can't download new listings. It was definitely connecting to the Sage server because data transferred when I picked a location and it showed the lineups, but I could never get it to download any new listings. I tried various tricks to see if I could get it out of this state for a week without rebooting.
