NVDVD... Where!

Allright, I give up. Where do you guys get NVDVD? Not necesserily looking to get an "illegal" copy, but it does not even seem to be for sale on the nvidia website.

Any suggestions?

Short answer is you can't get it. It's just not on sale any more, some cards come bundled with nVDVD/Forceware Multimedia 3. Other than that, Theatertek 2 will be the first and only place to get the 4.0 codecs.

Looks like it'll come with MCE2005 also, we'll see which comes out first, MCE or TT2 :P

Yeah, it was qualified for MCE2005, but AFIAK is only an option that must be included by your MCE system builder.

Above is the download for NVDVD. Unfortunatly you cant buy it at the moment. It has to be bundled with the card you buy. It gives great vibrant color and image on playback but I did notice my video sputter a little after using FF or RW over commercials. It may have just been my setup but I wouldnt suggest using it with SAGE. Here is the official message form NVIDIA's website to help ya out.

"Where to Buy

Bundled with Hardware
Look for NVDVD 2.0 bundled with the following partners:

eVGA.com, bundled with GeForce4
PNY, bundled with GeForce 6800 Ultra, 6800 GT, 6800, GeForce FX 5900 XT, 5700 LE, 5500, and 5200.

Stand Alone
The full version of NVDVD 2.0 is not available to purchase from NVIDIA at this time. We are currently working on updating our purchase program and offering better solutions for our customers."

That download is for version 2.55... most people are interested in getting their hands/eyeballs on 4.0.

Its been my understanding & experience that you need 2.55 in order to upgrade to 3 (then 4 if your one of the lucky ones). Could be wrong, but Im pretty sure thats what I had to do :P

I.

It depended one version of 3.0 that "appeared" would not work on ATI hardware unless a registered version of 2.55 was installed first.

As for the 4.0 decoders that have "appeared", they seem to work without jumping through such hoops.

Oh, and that link only contains a 2.55 patch, not a full trial.

This is common with most decoders in SageTV when rendering in overlay
turning off 3d acceleration should help
I found with VMR9 though fast foward and rewind work flawlessly
another bonus of VMR9

and stanger89
that is true for nvidia users as well about nvDVD3

What??? I only use overlay, and I have no stutter of any kind after RW/FF on all 3 of my machines. Never heard that associated with overlay before...

This is using Intervideo CSS Decoder from their XPACK.

kny3twalker. Thanks for the advice. I have actually just avoided the problem by using another decoder. I like using the 3d accelleration. It just looks soo nice. I am however now interested in see if I experience the same problems with the newer nvdvd codecs. Will have to get my hands on it somehow.

Can anyone help me get my hands on the nVDVD 3 Codec? I've been looking for a while with no luck. I would really like to see what everyone is raving about. Video clarity is the only drawback I have found so far with Sage and it sounds as though its not a difficult fix. Feel free to PM me. Thanks.

NVDVD 4.x codec can be obtained by purchasing TheaterTek 2.0. NVidia is not selling their codec to the end user. If you want it, you should either get an OEM copy by buying one of their hardware bundles or buying from one of their OEM software partners like TheaterTek. Begging for an illegal copy should not/is not condoned on this forum.

But you can buy it, anyone who wants to can buy TT and get the decoders (which are alegedly newer than the ones even the official beta testers got). If you don't like the price that's your own problem.
