EPG Updates -- TV Guide Not Updating
Running SageTV 2.0. Noticed the past 3 days the EPG is updating, but the LiveTV Guide is showing "No Data" past Thursday evening.
Triggered a manual update, but no effect. Also noticed that the NextEPG update in: 0 Minutes. Despite showing this, it appears the EPG has updated at least once each day. Any suggestions on what needs to be done to update the LiveTV guide? Thanks, |

You didn't install Windows SP2 recently & thus its firewall is turned on, did you? It sounds like SageTV can't access the internet.
If there is no firewall issue, I would try going to Setup -> Setup Wizard, select your source & then on the Source Details, select the EPG lineup & try reconfiguring that portion of the source. - Andy

This is a problem I've always had with Sage, even in version 1. What happens is that when Sage tries to update, and your internet connection isn't active, it will cause a problem. Sage will report erroneous information. For example, it will report that it updated 12 hours ago, but that the next update will occur in 0 minutes, even though it hasn't updated. It seems to keep trying to update every so often. Sometimes, once it's in the state, Sage will try to update only every 3 days. I believe this is a bug in Sage. The workaround is to restart Sage. You may also need to reboot your computer. Then everything will be okay. This is the only way I know to fix the problem once Sage is in this state.

Thanks to both Andy and zz5. Both recommendations helped.
Turned out there was a problem with the internet connection. (Not firewall or SP2 issue. ) Since I was able to connect to the computer through local network, never suspected the obviuos -- computer for some reason lost connection to the internet. Reconfiguring EPG lineup using the set up helped in discovering the internet problem. It also helped in triggering an EPG update once the connection was re-established. Everything working fine now. Thanks again. Gary |

I had the same problem with the EPG data not getting updated. I tried the afore mentioned "tricks" to no avail. What I finally found worked for me was changing
epg/download_frequency=0 epg/download_offset=0 to epg/download_frequency= epg/download_offset= in the Sage.properties file and restarting Sage (after, of course, first closing it before making these changes). This seemed to finally force the EPG update, however it then showed the next update as occuring in 0 minutes. I closed Sage and editted sage.properties again by setting epg/download_frequency=1 epg/download_offset= and reopened sage and it showed an update in a day, like I assumed it should've since the beginning. on a side note it would be handy to have comments and/or a guide that explained what setting do what in the sage.properties file... Hope this is able to help someone |
