Stuffing Sage in a closet

I plan on placing my Sage box in a coat closet as well as my other componets. We well be purchesing a flat screen soon to place over our fireplace. I plan to run a DVI cable from the pc to the tv probably around 15 feet.

My acutal question is. I am using a Pronto Pro TSU2000 remote that is a ir unit. I would like to get an ir to rf repater so I can send the single to my pc in the closet. I have seen a few unites out there but not sure which is the best.

Any help would be great.

Re: Stuffing Sage in a closet

Why not just get an ATI remtote wonder (I know, I know....but do you really have to use your pronto? ), use the sage/ATI remote wonder plugin w/ girder, and call it a day?

same price probably. Ive seen the series 1 remote for as low as $15 now.

I.

EDIT:

Holy crap, you paid a lot of money for that. nm..it sounds like your stuck with an ir repeater

To me, simplification is key. In your case, it would get more emotionally complicated if you had to retire your pronto ..haha

I am not to fond of the ATI remote. Buttons are to small for my large fingers. My pronto is already setup for all my conponents and WAF is high.

Here's a different solution to the same problem. Perhaps a little more time and money than the way you're headed, but since the author pans the most popular of the IR->RF->IR solutions, I thought it might be worth reading:

Thanks salsbst for the info.

The issue I have is I want to keep my remote. It works great. My closet is only 3 feet from my couch. I would prefer not to make holes and create alot of wiring. The TV will be about 10 feet from the closet which will house my componets(DVD player, Reciver, Sagetv pc) I would prefer having everything wireless I have seen a few options. I was courious if anyone has taken this route and how has it worked for them.
This would help me greatly in not having to deal with returning items if there is something someone is using that works well.

You could try one of those IR repeaters that allow you to use the remote in one room where there is an IR receiver, the signal is then converted to RF and transmitted to an IR Blaster unit in another room and blasted out.

In this case, put the IR Blaster (or transmitter) in the closet and the receiver on top of the fireplace.

The only thing is I am not sure they make them standalone any more. Nowadays they also allow you to connect a video and and audio source so that you can for example whats your Sat channels in your bedroom.

Have you fished around at avsforum? There might be more people familiar with the IR->RF->IR trick there than there are here.

I've got my components in a closed cabinet and use a HotLink Pro to extend the IR - works perfectly and no IR/RF/IR conversion involved. It was barely long enough for my application -- but I just noticed they now have a 25 foot extension, so it should easily work in the environment you've described.
