SP2 causing ghosting
I just got around to installing SP2 on one of my clients. Now when I use VMR9 I get insane ghosting. It's completely unwatchable. I tried upgrading to the latest nvidia drivers, but I still get the ghosting. For now I just switched to overlay. I was wondering if anyone else has/had this problem and if they've found a solution other then uninstalling SP2.
EDIT: btw..I'm using NVDVD 2.55 decoders with a GF4 Ti4600. |

I have the same problem with a 9600XT, although I just assumed it was due to an underpowered video card.
I have a DLP TV, and this effect was especially noticable when watching sporting events (soccer, volleyball, etc.). However, I had thought the effect was caused by enabling 3D acceleration - as disabling it seemed to solve the problem for me. |

I just switched to sonic decoders. I'm getting the same thing.

Is this menu ghosting or video ghosting/bluring?
If video, can you get a screenshot of it (hit Printscreen while using VMR9)? |

The effect only occurs with video. An example: a moving white ball (volleyball, soccer ball, etc.) leaves a white streak across the screen. |

ATI video cards? DXVA?
I know when I run VMR9 (less so with overlay) Sonic DXVA on my Radeon 9500 it does a nasty, funky bouncing thing some of the time. |

cause I had this happen on my old nvidia card once(using VMR7) in winTV and a couple times during beta testing of SageTV2(using VMR9) |

Yeah, it's only been with DX9c and/or the latest Cats.

I just went into the NVDVD app and turned off hardware acceleration. I only tested for about 10 minutes, but so far it seems better. I would try the same thing with the sonic decoders, but I hid the systray icon and I havn't figured out how to bring it back yet

You can change your Sonic settings through the Windows Control Panel if you don't have the tray icon. |

I just installed SP2 on my SageTV server. It had the same problem. The server has an ATI card and the client has a nVidia card. Looks like DX9.0c doesn't like hardware acceleration with either companies video cards.

you could try installing b over c if you have the full download of b
or a better way would be to remove c and install b again as long as you have b downloaded already there are tools to uninstall directx just look around(google) |

I was running fine with SP1 and DirectX9c.
So, when I installed SP2, I am now getting the ghosting as well. Same version of DirectX9 though right? Problem existed with either Sonic or NVDVD decoders. I disabled 3D hardware acceleration in DirectX9 and the problem goes away. COnfused because I was running the same version of DirectX9c before and after the SP2. So maybe something besides DirectX9c? So, how "important" is 3D hardware acceleration? What is the downside?

if you are using the newest ones, try using 1.8A drivers |

Why would the hauppage drivers affect a playback issue? The files themselves are fine. I tried installing the DX9.0c redist with no improvement. Guess I'll have to turn off hardware acceleration until we figure out whats causing this.
