Is my Sage Properties File Corrupt?
Earlier today I had completely shut down my HTPC in which Sage is installed. After booting the PC up a couple of hours later, Sage seemed start up as normal, but then there was a message to configure Sage. I had a minute or so to go through conifiguration, but didn't think that I needed to do it (it should've already been configured?). Then while navigating through the menu, Sage hung. Had to restart the PC. Sage seem to start up fine, but then...
While trying to watch something on live tv, I realized that Sage lost all it's configurations/settings (Video/Audio renderers, Stv's, Channel setup, Filter settings, Library imports directories, Video directories, etc.). I had to go through changing everything back to the way I had it all set up before. I also had to go back into the properties file and redo changes I had made to some parameters. I noticed something at the begninning of the properties file that I don't think was there before , but I'm not quite sure. Hoping someone out there can confirm. Here's what I have at the beginning of my Sage properties file: #Sage Preferences #Sat Sep 04 22:49:44 PDT 2004 \u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000= (there were actually many more lines of this, but I had to edit it to post)...(the rest looks pretty normal)... actisys_irtune_global_preroll=2000 aggressive_negative_profiling=false always_autotune=true antialias_text=true antialias_text_point_size_min=24 async_tuning=true autohide_osd=true... The auto backup file looks the same. I've restarted and shut down before plenty of times and have never run into this problem before. ![]() |

just go into the properties file and delete the u0000 stuff while SageTV is not running and save it
then reopen SageTV and check it again I had this happen before and deleting the u0000 does not hurt SageTV |

Thanks. Any clue on why I had lost my configuration?

My only guess is that maybe Sage didn't close right when you shut down your PC and you your configuration didn't get saved.

FWIW, I've seen this as well.
Both my Sage.props and client props have the \u0000 bytes (and lots of them!). I also lost my config settings about the same time as I noticed the \u0000 oddity. |
