Question WinFast PVR2000

Hi.

New member right here and im building up a PVR for my parents. Very interested in the Sage software as featurewise and usability it looks great. Have most components on hand, but im still deciding on video card choice.
While the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR250 looks great... it is a little expensive (especially since this is a gift).

Was thinking of using the WinFast PVR2000 as it looks like a decent entry level card with MPEGII encoding on-card. (http://www.leadtek.com/multimedia/wi...pvr2000_1.html)
I can also get this card at 1/3rd of the price of the Hauppauge.

Noticed the PVR2000 popped up a few times on this board, but noone could give a straight "YES IT WORKS. NO IT DOESNT" answer.
Would be greatly appreciated guys as i dont want to waste my money on incompatible hardware.

I cannot find prices on it

but anyways the pvr 250 can be bought for under a 100 dollars

and are your parents very computer knowledgable

if not you may want to consider a TiVo for them

Thanks for the quick response...
But unfortunately (being an Australian) the pvr 250's are oddly expensive over here (around $400). This is compared to the PVR2000 coming in at under $160.

And also being an australian, we dont have TiVo

It should work, it looks like it's just a Blackbird based card (like the Hauppauge Roslyn or Avermedia M150).

After a quick chat with some members of tv-cards.com ive been told that Sage.tv does NOT support the WinFast PVR2000.

If anyone else has this card and believes otherwise, please correct me here.

Its a real pity too. So keen on Sage :<

I believe Sage will support any Blackbird card

you may want to email them about the card and send the link you have
