CPU pegging at 100%

First of all let me say that have been able to be my server picture quality and stability to a very acceptable level. This question is more of a curiosity than a problem. It would be good to fix but the problem would be acceptable if I could understand it.

After switching from something recorded to a live football game, I began to see some significant studdering almost immediately. I checked the CPU and it was pegged out. It remained that way for a few minutes after which went to a normal 30% CPU utilization. Does any sage expert out there know what this channel change could have done that required such high Sage CPU load(I checked the taskmgr and Sage was using almost all the CPU). If not caused by the channel change what else could be going on in the background that would load the CPU so heavily.
