New SageTV community website

http://www.sage-community.org/

As some of you have no doubt noticed, there is now a community run website to help facility community generated documentation of SageTV and manage projects related to Sage. The site is wiki based so that mean everyone (YOU) can and should help add to, clarify, maintain, and update the information located there.

PLEASE NOTE: Just to clarify, this site is not run by Frey Technologies, does not reside on their equipment, and the information on that site in no way represents official company advice!

If you have any questions about the new site you can either post them here or send me a PM or email (in my sig).

I put a hyphen between the words "document" and "oriented" in the second paragraph.

I saw that. Thanks! I rearranged the site so much of the text that was on the front page is now linked to from a About the site section. I think it makes the front page cleaner.

Also I added a commit log mailing list. Anyone interested can sign up and be notified when changes are made to the source code. I'll warn you, though, if you aren't involved in writing or maintaining the code, the diffs are pretty boring to look at. There is a link from the main page which will get you going if you want to sign up.

Hi All I updated the Girder setup and posted a Girder file for SageTVClient. Only small change from the SageTV file, but it will save others time on not having to change the target on all of those commands.

FWIW, I think I made my GML generic so it should work with either.

I just looked at it & do not think it will. The Class Name is listed as SageApp, but the client uses SageClientApp, so even with substring matching, it won't catch it.

Also, when I click on the file to download it, it displays it on the screen instead & when right click and choose to Save Target, it saves it as an xml file for some reason. Would a zip file work better?

It display it as xml because gml files are xml. A zip file might work better in a variety of browsers or it could be stored as an attachment on the wiki which, at least for me, seems to handle the download correctly.

I changed it to an attachment.

And you're right Andy, it doesn't work. I know at one point I thought I had it working for both, but I just tried and couldn't make it.

I took a look at the amount of information now on the website and I am amazed at how much it has grown! The website has only existed for 2 weeks and only been public for 2 days and already there is a HUGE amount of info!

Wow!

Great work Tom!

Oh, I noticed that Frey even has a link to it on the front page of www.sage.tv

Of course, thanks to all the contributors as well. That's what makes a wiki worthwhile!

I wanted to let everyone know that we now have the entire site, including each contributors personal areas, backed up nightly onto Frey servers. The server has its own offsite nightly backup and this isn't meant to replace that but rather to give contributors some security that if I were to drop off the face of the earth the entire site could be put back up by either Frey or another individual they hand it off to.

This has actually been in place for a while but I forgot to announce it. Many thanks again to those who have helped add content to the site!!
