Long buffering time on start and channel change?
Does anyone have this similar problem? Im trying to determine if SP2 is doing it or something else. Its the only thing that is different than what I normally do. I also had this problem before I formatted and started fresh. (it was the reason why I formatted)
When sage starts and you choose a channel to change to it changes, but it seems like it hangs. the graphics and such signifies that its on the channel but nothing video wise is displayed. However if you wait almost 60 seconds then it will start to play video, specificially what happened on the channel in the past minute like it was buffering it entirely. Change the channel and the same thing occurs. Running sage maintance release with latest version of Java on XP pro SP2. Athlon 2100+ 512m DDR 266. Radeon 9600. (up to a few days ago ran it flawlessly.) |

another update on the issue. I formatted again before I left and the only thing I did on a new install was upgrade to DirectX 9.0c, install the Catalist 2.5 drivers and the older PVR-250 drivers (the last ones before the current ones on their site) I also left the standard java that the sage installer installs instead of upgradeing to the one that java update recommends. it still hangs.
This evening I plan on takeing the hauppauge out and putting it into another machine to see if its the cause. if not, them im completely stumped to whats different. |

Catalist 2.5 drivers
why not use the newest catalyst drivers 4.8 and what decoders and renders do you have configured it is not good to leave those as default have you installed the updates for your motherboard not the bios but the drivers do you have a problem with winTV 2000 ? |

ah. sorry. it is 4.5. was thinking of something else.
What I was using before was windvd 6, when I formatted I used the default hauppauge codecs. also via 4 in 1 drivers didn't make a difference at all. also with wintv2000 it seemed sluggish, but it changed channels, More on the lines that you tell it to flip and there was about a 2 second delay. |

there will always be a delay since everything we view is recorded first
just not 60 secs try another decoder I know it means spending money but the DVD decoders pack are 15 dollars and many times hardware has bundled DVD programs you can use also try disabling 3 d acceleration in SageTV use overlay video rendering sonic has always been really reliable also if you want a gmail account there is one up for grabs in the general discussion forum |
