Controlling 2 cable boxes

Hi everyone,

I have two cable boxes i'm trying to control with the USB-UIRT. I read the posts about the 3 zone capabilities of the controller, but have been unable to get the emitters to change the channel.
The main USB unit can control one of the boxes.

Given that I can't get the multi-zone abilities to work, I was wondering if it was possible to use two USB-UIRTS or if there was another solution? I tried extensive searches but could only find the multi-zone answers, which doesn't seem to be working for me. I have no issue purchasing another USB-UIRT if I can configure Sage to recognize each one and control each box independently.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Another Alternative is to use the Actisys IR 200L via a Serial Port.

Does your USB UIRT Model number end in a z? If it does not then your USB UIRT does not support Zones.

I found this on USB UIRT Forum:

You will have to make it so that Sage Sends Channel Change requests to Girder...I know I have seen this some where.

Thank you so much for your reply. I will look into the actisys. So I could have one box controlled by the UIRT and one by the actisys?

My USB-UIRT does have a Z on it, I just can't seem to get the zone control to work.

Thanks again!

Yes and No.

SageTV can only use either USB UIRT or Actisys. The way around this is that you need to setup a SageRecorder on the same Box as a network encoder. I currently do this.

Since your USB UIRT does have the z I would try to figure out why it does not work. You might want to try posting on the USB UIRT forums to see if they have any ideas why it is not working as it is a much easier solution than using an Actisys and having multiple applications to make sure are running to do recordings.
